<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The interpreter stands close, ready if needed. There was a time when Colin Pine was Yao Ming, or at least his voice. Reporters would fire their questions at the big man and then wait, while the issue would be discussed in Chinese and then relayed by the, well, much smaller man to the waiting audience. Most of us could never be sure that Colin and Yao weren?t talking about the weather or what they had for lunch, but we would always receive a suitable answer, and that was good enough. These days, Yao tries to do it alone. It?s admirable, really. Now in his third year in the States, he understands enough English to speak for himself. Of course, the answers are shorter now, more clipped, and it?s 50-50 whether he really understands the question. Then again, how is your Chinese? Thought so. He still defers at times to Pine, but Yao gets big points for working with us, for even trying. The quality of the interview suffers, but he?s doing it right. If he wants to be an NBA player, he has to learn the language, just like he has to learn not to back down from Shaq or try to chase Allen Iverson in the open court. He?ll never cut a rap CD or get a post-graduate degree in trash talk. But in four or five years, it?s a good bet that Yao might just be among the best interviews in the League.</div> Link This is a pretty good write-up, but mostly talks about stuff that us Rockets posters already know. I'd still recommend this article in the magazine though. I just got mine today and this article was the first I read. Go out and buy it if possible.

I've read this, but what issue of SLAM is this on? April 05? the one with LeBron on the cover? because I can't find this article in there...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Dan Le:</div><div class="quote_post">I've read this, but what issue of SLAM is this on? I doubt it is on newstands right now though, because I got it early for being a subscriber. Should be out within 2 weeks. Btw, how much are SLAMs in Australia?
Aww I haven't even seen the Vince Carter cover one, was the one before that with LeBron on it? anyway Slam Magazines are $9.60 so either someone smart or someone who can be bothered finding a currency converter can tell me what that would be in US dollars, another thing while we're a tad off subject, I bought a T-Mac rockets jersey for $70 i'm pretty sure it's just a replica, but thats the only ones they sell here (except for Carmello and LeBron alternatives) am I getting ripped off?
I do online reservation or another business only when I'm about to travel, which is very rare. Apart from that, I never pay a dime on the internet.

What they have online is to subscribe online. You could just pick up the single issue, $6 American. Dan Le, at least you get jerseys in Australia. When I was in Singapore no one had any basketball jerseys. Lots of soccer ones, but no basketball ones. Anyways, it's most likely a replica. Are the words and numbers on the jersey stitched on? Or are they screenprinted? Stitched ones are better than printed ones.

Magazine sounds right and the jersey sounds right if it's nice quality. Even if it's a replica I wouldn't say you're getting ripped off, considering you'd have to pay a high shipping cost to get it cheaper from out of country anyway.
My rockets jersey is a stitched one, but it isn't one of those silky look ones, which is a shame because those are 10x better....back to SLAM, one of my friends told me that SLAM dates their issues 2 months ahead, is this true?!

From what I know, the date on the issue is a month after the next issue's release. So say if it's in July and the latest issue is 95 and the spine reads October, the next issue, or 96, will come in September. It's a weird system.
