Some are speculating that Yao is less than thrilled with the new offense brought in by Adelman, this is just a rumor I've heard elsewhere as a possible trade for Kobe. Just curious what fans here think of it.
Kobe/Bynum for Yao/Battier/Head
As a Rockets fan, I don't like it, but I'd like your perspective.

I'm not too sure about that trade. If Tracy and Yao can't make it past the 1st round, how would Odom and Yao do it?

I don't think you'd be able to steal Battier out of it. Kobe-Tmac-Battier-Scola would be pretty potent, even more so if they somehow got Bynum too.

It's a bad trade I wouldn't want to do it were not getting enough talent back. How would Kobe and T-mac work together if both of them are high scorers.

I'd have to yes to this deal even though the Lakers looked unstoppable last night. Yao Ming a center you can win a title with and make a good 3 or 4 year run with him once you get all the pieces in place. It's always been easier to win a title by having a dominant post player, and Yao is arguably the best center in the NBA. He's improved his production every season and Yao in a slowed down Triangle offense would be wicked. The Lakers could even get away with Yao and Kwame on the court at the same time since Yao could play the PF positions within the Triangle and Kwame can continue to play center.
The Lakers also get one of the premiere man defenders in the league and Battier is another high basketball IQ player with skillset to function in the Triangle offense. He's the ideal role player for any team trying to reach a title.
I'm also a Luther Head fan and he'd replace some of the scoring we'd lose by trading Kobe away.
PG - Fisher/Farmar/JCritt SG - Battier/Head/Sasha SF - Odom/Walton/Evans PF - Brown/Turiaf/Radman/Cook C - Yao/Mihm
This is well balanced lineup and the Lakers would be one of the top defensive teams in the league.

That is a horrible trade for both teams, I think. If the Rockets can't win with T-mac and Yao, why would the Lakers want to pair up Yao and Odom? How long before one of them gets hurt and the Lakers get the first pick in the draft?
There isn't enough ball for Kobe and T-mac to go around.
Also, Bynum and Kobe in the same deal? Whoever the hell told you this rumor is blowing smoke out of their ass, it's one or the other...not both. We either build now around Kobe or build for later around Bynum...they both won't be shipped out in the same deal.

As important as a big man is in the West, I don't think we get much better with this trade. If a Kobe/Odom combo can't win, I don't see how a combo of Odom/Yao can win. The other thing that i don't like about that tandem is the fact that both have a history of injury issues. Each of them missed a whole bunch of time last year, and if one of them were to go down, I don't know how well the rest of the team could pick up the slack. Plus, I definitely don't want to lose BOTH Bynum and Kobe. Hell, I'm against losing Bynum and Odom, there's no way I'd be for losing Kobe and Bynum, even if we're getting the best center in the league in return.

I don't like this trade, it makes Houston much better plus they are in the same conference. As good as Yao is, he's not worth Kobe and a improving Bynum.
I'd actually do this if I were Houston, provided I get Bryant and Bynum. Bynum's been written off and derided over the last year because of the video of Kobe dissing him with the Kidd trade, but he's still very young and could get much better. He's already more conditioned to the rigors of the NBA than Yao likely ever will be, and pairing Kobe and McGrady creates one of the most lethal wing combos I think I can ever recall. Given Yao's somewhat spotted injury history, as well as how damn tired he gets during games (especially now that Adelman is trying to turn up the tempo) this is a trade I'd do in a moment.

On the other hand, it's becoime obvious the Bulls aren't going to part with Deng, which would make Yao the best possible player you're going to get back for Bryant.
