http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab...ounger-brother-may-walk-171348521--ncaab.html Adria Gasol will be a walk-on next season at UCLA. He's 6'10", skinny, and very fundamentally raw. His interest in basketball is also questionable. However, you could say the same for his older brother, Marc, at the same age, and now he's a franchise center.
It doesn't seem that he has the interest to play, but I remember when Marc was in our league in Memphis, he didn't seem interested in playing either. The only difference is that Marc at least had a feel for the game. His biggest flaw was just his conditioning --- he was a big 'ol fat kid who you could put on the bench after a few transition plays (like Dexter Pittman but more skilled). Apparently, Adria doesn't have a good grasp of the fundamentals though. If nothing else, this is a great move for UCLA just to have the attention that the Gasol family brings in LA, and all it will cost them is a walk-on spot. Will Adria play more than 50 minutes on the season? Unlikely. However, you'll probably see Pau in the stands every other game, which will be great for media attention and recruiting.
