What is your ideal lineup for next season? Not including the draft...And lets make it reasonable people [IMG]

    mine:

    PG: Antonio Daniels/Mike James
    SG: Bob Sura/Jon Barry
    SF: Tracy McGrady/Scott Padgett/Ryan Bowen
    PF: Juwan Howard/Donyell Marshall/Clarence Weatherspoon
    C: Yao Ming/Dikembe Mutombo

I also think the Rockets should buyout Moochie's contract and for them to search for a third-string PG in training camp...I think this would be a great roster for the Rockets...it has speed and athleticism(Daniels/James/Sura/TMac), shooting (James, Barry, TMac, Marshall), rebounding (Yao, Deke, Marshall, Howard, and even Weatherspoon boards), and versatility (AD, Sura and James can all play both guard spots, TMac can play both backcourt spots and SF, Marshall can play the 4 and 3 spots, Padgett can play the 4 and 3 spots, Barry can play both backcourt spots and some spot minutes at the 3)...

    list yalls lineups...

    PG: Damon Jones/ James
    SG: Wesley/ Sura/ Barry
    SF: TMac/Padgett/Bowen
PF: Stromile, Evans or Draft Pick/Howard
    C: Yao/ Mutombo (wouldn't mind trading Mutombo).

^I'm guessing you traded Wesley? Very nice.

    PG- Bob Sura/Mike James/Moochie Norris
    SG- Mobley/Spanoulis
    SF- Tracy McGrady/Ryan Bowen
    PF- Juwan Howard/Draft Pick/Torraye Braggs
    C- Yao Ming/Dikembe Mutumbo

I know I know, almost impossible to get Mobley. I can dream can't I? But its too hard to tell right now, I mean currently the 04-05 season didn't even end yet.

^^^ True, but I forgot about Spanoulis...I think he'll crack the rotation as well...and I think we'll end up drafting a PF for depth, but we'll also acquire one as well...Would sac be silly enough to take wesley for mobley if mobley definitely says he wants out? surely they'd want something in return...perhaps wesley and a pick for mobley? i dunno, but im not against a mobley return...

    1- bob sura, mike james
    2- cuttino mobley, david wesley
    3- Tmac, padgett/ mobley
4- juwan howard, wayne simien/chris anderson
    5- Yao, Deke

I think that would make a practical lineup. Whoever results from our draft choice should play the four. I think anderson would be a good fit and is cheap. I hope we somehow aquire cat.

I'm invading the clutch city board...[IMG]

PG Earl Watson (Sign and trade w/ Memphis)/Mike James
    SG Bob Sura/Jon Barry/Vassilis Spanoulis
SF Tracy McGrady/Casey Jacobson (F.A)/Ryan Bowen
    PF Juwan Howard/Wayne Simien ®
    C Yao Ming/Dikembe Mutombo

I think that Watson would fit well in Houston, as he's tough minded and plays sticky defense, and he's a true point who feeds the post well and will be able to help get Yao the ball. Wesley won't be staying on this team, and Memphis seems like a team that could use some veteran perimeter shooting.

I think that Jacobson would be a cheap, quality replacement deep shooter after Wesley's departure. He's still young, and needs work on defense, but playing behind T Mac, all he'll need to do is be Jon Barry lite; to come in and knock down a couple threes every now and then.

I think that Simien will be a good fit (as I said in the other thread) because he will be a quality backup and change of pace for Howard, and will be able to help Yao inside with tough defense and on the glass.

I think the Rockets will re-sign Barry, Bowen and Mutombo for cheap, as they are players who fit the Rockets' system and know their roles.

the rockets are projected as being $8-9 million over the cap next year, and will need to re-sign a couple of their role players. how do you guys see them signing two free agents? the MLE could prolly snag one of the free agent points, but i really doubt that they could get swift, cuz there are going to be guys throwing a lot of cash at him.

In terms of the Rockets' financial capabilities(how I wish Alexander were just as rich as Cuban, Allen, Davidson, etc..) in the offseason these are my possible line-ups:

    PG: Sura/James/Spanoulis(draft pick)
    SG: Wesley/Barry( unrestricted free agent)/Spanoulis
    SF: McGrady/Padgett
    PF: Howard/Andersen/Simien(draft pick)
C : Yao/Andersen(unrestricted FA/opt out his contract with the Hornets)

Surplus(players we're all hoping to be moved, traded or bought out if possible): Norris, Weatherspoon, Ward and Baker.

There will be a tough decision when in comes to spending the Rockets' MLE on free agents. We can either resign 2 or 3 players who come in cheap. Probably with the amount MLE has to offer we can only sign 2. I would rather sign Barry and Andersen. I hate to see Dikembe go but we don't have space or budget to accomodate him. If we could only buyout Ward or Baker's contract. Their contract are the cheapest among the 4 surplus players. Back-up SF is another issue though we can trade our players with expiring contracts for those teams in need of salary cap relief.

I dunno if we will ever challenge for the title without a great pg like nash. Antonio Daniels isn't a pG!!! lol...he won't fit. I think IF we could get one of these guys: Kidd, Cassell, or Watson. Great pg's will really make us a much better team: look at Steve Nash. If only we could get Kidd.

actually we want daniels as a PG so we can slide sura to the 2...daniels is a much more capable ballhandler and point man than sura...

From what I've read about the Spanoulis kid, he is the pure point guard we are looking for, but I guess only time will tell that. Getting Kidd would be great but I dont see it happening. I wouldnt be opposed to getting Van Exel, as he has expressed interest in the rockets. We also need some depth at the PF spot. So here's my lineup:

    PG: James/Spanoulis/Van Exel
    SG: Sura/Barry/Wesley
    SF: Tmac/Padgett
PF: Stromile Swift or Donyell Marshall/Juwan
    C: Yao/Dik/Chris Andersen?

Wishful thinking IMO. I presume we sign Mobley as a FA and somehow package Wesley and Sura to get Kidd. So how do we get both Swift and Donyell? They would both need MLEs, and we definitely can't use our MLE to get both of them.

Also, Kidd and James would be the PGs, not Mobley and Barry.

    My lineup would be:

PG: Chris Duhon (signed as FA)/Sura/James
    SG: Wesley/James/Sura
SF: McGrady/Demarr Johnson (I figured he'd be a cheap FA addition)
    PF: Howard/Ronny Turiaf (via draft)
C: Yao/Dan Gadzuric (cheap FA addition)

true-look at the knicks getting crawford for trybanski, williams and harrington (plus mutombo, who turned out to have more gas left in the tank than we thought [IMG] )

i think that the rockets will be able to pull a minor trade (like the one i suggested for watson), and maybe sign a minor free agent. but the sticking points are that they have to re-sign some role players, and most of the young free agents (i.e swift) will be getting fat offers from worse teams with more $$$ to throw at them. but the rockets' brass has been making mostly good decisions in the past couple years, and i think they'll find a way to bring in a couple more quality spare parts to team with yao and t mac. Does anyone have word on the Spanoulis kid? I've heard he was a shooting guard in a point guard's body that shoots the lights out but now I've just read a post above that says he's a true point guard. Anyone have any news?

    EDIT-

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Clutchcity04:</div><div class="quote_post">I wouldnt be opposed to getting Van Exel, as he has expressed interest in the rockets.</div>

Why would you want him? We would have to trade for him since he isn't a free agent- plus his contract is enormous. It would put us under salary cap hell. Oh yeah and he's getting old and I don't think his body would be able to take much more.
