Your 2008-09 Miami Heat

Here’s one thought on your Miami Heat lineup as things stand now:

Starters:

PG Mario Chalmers

SG Dwyane Wade

SF Shawn Marion

PF Udonis Haslem

C Mark Blount

Reserves (in order of the minutes they’d play):

PF Michael Beasley

SF James Jones

PG Marcus Banks

C Jamaal Magloire

SF Dorell Wright

Of course, that means players such as SF Yakhouba Diawara and SG Daequan Cook are out of the mix. And it means Wright has to fight for meaningful minutes. And it takes into account PG Chris Quinn hasn’t re-signed with Miami, and C Alonzo Mourning won’t be back until maybe January.

The Heat would seem to have decent options at perimeter defense on the bench among Jones, Wright and Diawara.

The offense off the bench would be decent, too, with Beasley, Jones, Cook and Banks.

The low-post defense among backups would come mainly from a combination of Haslem (if he played some backup center) and Magloire.

By the way, if this holds — and let’s face it, training camp is still a few weeks away so there’s no telling if this holds — the Heat could have tremendous trade possibilities with Wright and Cook alone or in a package for a veteran.

Considering Wade’s health and the expectations for Marion playing alongside a healthy Wade, the Heat seems on track for a .500 season.

And keep an eye focused on mid-February, trading deadline possibilities.

Beasley's going to start, Blount's going to be on the bench. Without Beasley on the bench, though, this team's depth is pathetic.
