Hey all! I've been following this site so long I don't remember when I started. Finally joined last December. Maybe January. Slept since then so my memory banks have been erased! I've been a die hard Blazers fan since 1978 when I moved here. Even through the Blazers' dark times I'd often be the only one at social or family or work functions that was glued to a Blazers game. I'm a "jock." Damn. Ok, WAS a jock. But YOU GUYS and your knowledge never cease to amaze me. Seriously. Just curious what your background is in relation to basketball/NBA/Blazers.
Fell in love with Basketball at 4 years old, played organized ball in middle school, highschool and up in alberta CA until my early 20’s. Been watching the Blazers as long as I can remember. I used to draw up plays in middle school too. I played PG because I stopped growing at 5’10, was a good scorer, an ok passer and I loved playing defense. Overall Ive always enjoyed the strategy of the game. Film Study, tendencies, all that. Id say my biggest weaknesses are Im not really into Stats much or the CBA nearly as well as many other posters here. I think before I blew out both knees I could hold my own against most guys, though Ive definitely played a couple dudes that were way, way better than me.
I host True Blazer Fan on YouTube, you should check it out. Played college ball, couldve possibly played D2 but I choose to stay in Vancouver. Been a huge Portland fan since I was about 10 years old.
his tbf channel is probably the best Local Blazer content we get. I'd recommend people check it out too. Though I think there are a few radio guys that do good work too.
You should check it out! Especially good if you miss a game and want a recap thats better than the national stuff. Good insights into good and bad from the games. Overall Ive liked it.
My family has had season tickets since day 1. In my younger days I worked as an intern for the team on the basketball side.
Unfortunately, I wasn't alive yet to see the Blazers win it in '77. But, I have been a Blazers fan since I can remember. I was born in Texas and my dad would have the spurs games on. I would always go for the Blazers when they played and my dad would say your going for the wrong team. Nope. Moved to Portland in the early nineties. Watched every Blazer game I could since. Grew up playing streetball at the local courts here in Portland. Played in highschool till my knee went out. Coached high school level basketball. I write articles for Blazersland.com and am a VIP here in the forum.
And to answer your question, I'm 24 years old and became a blazers fan in 2014, before that I just watched Mavericks games because I was a huge Nowitzki fan, then I saw the playoffs series between Portland and Houston and I Fall in love with the Blazers, especially when Lillard hit THE SHOT, I'll never forget the moment. I miss this Team from 2013-2014 Season
Man you're more negative than a lot of us and you didnt even have to go through the Finals losses, the JailBlazers, or the Roy/Oden BS! I dont get it!
