Figured, in honor of the most clutch player in the Blazers history getting his number retired tonight, what is your favorite Terry Porter memory? A game? A play? Has anyone ever met him?

I wish I could've met him, but my long-lasting memory was the game in 1990 against the Sonics when he hit an unbelievable 30-foot 3-pointer after juggling the ball to tie the game... that was one of the most amazing shots I ever saw.
And growing up playing ball, I'd always tried to pattern my game after TP.. haha.

Anyway, what's everyone else's? At least this could be a thread where people can stop bickering at each other.

    Three come to mind:

    1) His rookie game (intersquad). I was there and he missed his first shot (mid-range jumper), but went through the whole team to get the offensive rebound and put it back in.

    2) I forget what game, but where Terry hit a tough three to win the game after getting mugged and fumbling the ball (probably the one Alex mentioned).

    3) His half court lob to Clyde, where it looked to be way behind Clyde, but he caught it and threw it down.

Hey BeerBoy, maybe since he's in town today, he'll swing by the TacoBell drive-thru and order a #2!

5/11/92 play offs against the Suns. Triple OT final Blazers 153 Suns 151. Best game I've ever seen. I don't have a clip but here's the box score.

I was at a Blazer bash a few years ago and talking to Jerome Kersey. I asked if he remembered this game and he just started nodding his head and said, "That was a good game".

It was so exciting I'm lucky I survived... I was sure I was going to have a stroke.

THAT was one of the best games in history. Porter had 31 points, 14 assists and six boards.. sheesh. and just one turnover in 51 minutes. The guy was amazing. Go TP!

And I bet Porter would've been a great complement to Brandon today..

Can you imagine? Clyde got most of the attention but I always felt more comfortable with the ball in TP's hands for a buzzer beater. Very much like Brandon in closing out games. They would've been amazing together.

Alex do you remember how it ended? KJ pulled his hamstring in the 3rd OT and had to leave the game. I felt really bad later but at the time I jumped up and ran around my coffee table waving my hands like a loon celebrating the injury! He was such an amazing guard as well. That game should be on ESPN classics.

There's no doubt in my mind that Terry and Brandon could've played off each other well, and hit clutch shots together. I loved it when Terry would bring the ball down, and just immediately set up for a momentum-busting three. He did that so many times.
Both were terrific combo guards that could play either the 1 or 2.

I was only 9 at the time, but my parents always used to tape the Blazer games and I'd watch them over and over and over. I don't remember KJ injuring himself, but I remember Ainge I think hitting a 3 from halfcourt just before the halftime buzzer.
And I think it was Big Duck who came through with the left and right hook shots in overtime.
Maybe that was a different game, but I do have this 153-151 game on tape somewhere stuffed in a basement. It'd be sweet to bust it out, put it on a DVD.
And I loved KJ's game back in the day too. That guy was really really good.

If you do find it and convert it to DVD I'd love to buy a copy and watch that game again. I think I'd be able to watch it now without having a stroke.
