i think its a good trade for the hornets now with JR, CP, and Mason on the team i think the hornets are gonna win at least 7 or 8 more than last year.... if j.r. and d mason score over 15 a game the hornets will be even better
Jamaal Magloire was the Hornets' only inside threat. With PJ Brown now the team's best interior scorer, defenses will collapse on the three wing players. The Hornets made a good move for their future but it's absurd to think that this trade makes the team any better this year.

They got a really good player who will add excitement to the team now they have a really solid 1,2,3 combo for the next few years. They are in rebuilding mode so there was really no reason to keep Jamal he was either leaving on a trade or through free agency. This Hornets team is going to be exciting to watch, don’t get me wrong there anything, but contenders, but with these three players they have a great fast break trio, and will probably add some talent in the next couple years I think they will be able to contend in about three to four years for a playoff spot.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Coolguy777:</div><div class="quote_post">Considering Magloire was out the entire last season I think it does.</div> Well, of course the team will finish with a better record than last year, but had the Hornets kept Magloire, they would have been a better team. The Hornets have great slashers and attackers but defenses will just key in on that wing trio and the Hornets will find it hard to score.
Can anyone say...... JACKSON VROMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This guy did good from what I saw last year and he should be better with increased playing time, Lampe is good but I think Vroman can be better than Lampe. PJ Brown is a solid player, worth every penny he's getting IMO. He's the Hornets version of Antonio Davis, he's the lone veteran on this squad with Lynch wanting out, he should be a 10/10 guy everynight and this should lead the Hornets to being more of a fast break team with Paul, Smith, and of course my boy Desmond. Also the Hornets got a first round draft pick didnt they? No matter where it is it should be good, because from what I've seen/heard next years draft shouldnt be too bad. Hopefully they can pick up someone good with that pick.
theyre looking at a top 15-20 pick at the least,in my opinion thats what the hornets considered the most important thing. plus mason was a good throw in not to say he ain't quality.good deal in the end but i was disapointed to see that the raptors didnt come out as the victors in the mags stakes.

This was probably the best trade they could get for Magloire and they faired very well. Magloire is a free agent this coming summer and wasn’t going to re-sign with the Hornets who will almost surely miss the playoffs again. So, New Orleans decides to trade him for Desmond Mason, a player just as good as Magloire, and also get an unprotected pick from New Orleans. That was the key to the deal. Although the Bucks have improved from last season, the East is looking to be extremely competitive this year. Let’s look at some of the locks in the East: 1. Detroit 2. Miami 3. New Jersey 4. Indiana 5. Cleveland ---------------- 6. 7. 8. It’s going to be a dogfight for those last three spots. You have teams like Boston, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, Washington, and Orlando all fighting with Milwaukee for those last three spots. It’s possible the Bucks will miss the playoffs next season and the Hornets could snatch a 12-14 pick in the lottery from them. With all the slipping that goes on during the draft–who knows?–maybe the Hornets could get someone with star potential with the Bucks pick to go along with their own top 5 pick. Also, Desmond Mason is a great player. He’s a good defender, a good leader, and his athleticism should compliment Chris Paul well. J.R. Smith and Desmond Mason should bring plenty of excitement to the fans of this organization. I expect ticket sales to skyrocket.

I would shoe in the cavs as a 5 spot, i know they improved but they still haven't made the playoffs w/ lebron. Also, magloire has another year after this year so he's not a free agent and they would have had 2 years to look for more trades. I don't think it was a bad trade for the hornets but i don't know if it was the best possible trade.

Even if his contract does have another year on it, what makes the trade great is the unprotected first round pick. With the exception of San Antonio, Detroit, Miami, and a few other contending teams, who would give up an unprotected first rounder? The Bucks could very well miss the playoffs this season and the Hornets will get a lottery pick. What better trade do you have in mind?
