    Re: You're definition of clutch

Clutchness isn't hitting on shot with 5 ticks left whilst having a poor 4th quarter. Playing well in the 4th quarter as a whole is clutch. Rebounding the ball with time ticking is clutch, attracting double teams and passing it to an open teamate is clutch [lebron]. Playing great defense down the stretch in the clutch and so on. So i think everyone including myself are wrong in calling Lebron a choker. Him attracting the D and passing it to an open teamate for the win is clutch. So what is you're definition and does it differ from ine?edit: Your instead of you're [i suck at spelling]

Lebron does pass out, but he's yet proved that he isn't afraid of that pressure, or that he could lift the rest of his team and win the game himself...But overall I'd agree with you, with the addition of that player being fearless and confident in his shot and ability.

Also the mental part of it can also regard clutch. Not making mental mistakes offensively or defensively late in games is key.

See a choker is a person who does stuff in the clutch that he wouldn't do normally. For example in 2002 game 7 wcf Peja airballed a 3 with 10 ticks left which could've given them the lead. He's the groups i put players inBonafide chokersSemi ChokersNeutralSemi clutchClutch

    Re: You're definition of clutch

Here is my definition of clutch, it's simple:Playing well when the game is on the line.I think it means playing well in the final quarter so guys like Ben Gordon could be considered clutch. I don't think it is solely on the last shot but the baskets that set up the last shot. Playing good defense down the stretch should also be considered clutch and another form is carrying your team back from a deficiet.

    Re: You're definition of clutch

This definition can be twisted and turned in many ways. IMO, you can be clutch if you are cold all night, but when the game is on line and there is 3 ticks left, can you win the game for your team? If you team is down or is in a battle to win game, can you forget what has happenned in past, forget that you are dead tired, and can put it in the best 12 minutes you can possibly put in? When there is 3 ticks left, can you stop the other team's best player? With 3 ticks left, will you make the right decision to pass if need be and not take a 30ft fadeaway? In the crunch time, will you rise to the moment, or run away from the ball and not want to take over and rip the other team's throat out?All of these questions I consider when deciding if I can put the clutch or not clutch tag on a player.

    Re: You're definition of clutch

Clutch: The definition of an athlete who consistently plays his best, and better than the oppositions best in a season's biggest moment. In basketball, being clutch is playing your best or better than the oppositions best during a big game, such as a playoff matchup. Within "clutch," a seperate definition can arise: Clutch PlaysClutch Play(s): A span of consecutive plays, or one play that is needed in order for team victory, or assists toward helping your team win, normally in a game's final moments, or 4th quarter.Symbolization of Clutch: Michael Jordan - Averaged 30+ in Playoffs including a Playoff record 63 Points in one game. Averaged a record 41 PPG for a Finals series in 1993. Hit 2+ game winners per season (last second shots needed to lift team to win) throught career, and almost 3+ per season as a Bull.

    Re: You're definition of clutch

Clutch is coming up big when your team needs you. This doesn't necessarily have to be in the fourth quarter or in the last posession, just any time that your team depends on you. Most people think that Clutch is just hitting a big shot, but i also believe in cltch defense, ballhandling, rebounding, etc. By my own definition, Raef LaFrentz could be considered clutch. He always gets huge rebounds and/or blocks at the end of the game.
