He doesn't excite me but I would be willing to give him a chance at 14. If we take him at 7 I'll be fucking livid.
The draft is so unpredictable and the way the game changes and evolves is fascinating. Regardless of what the debates have been, I’d be excited to see him in a Blazer uniform regardless of where he’s taken. He’s a massive human being who dominated in college. He’s known as a hard worker who has improved every year he’s played and grew up playing other sports, too. I’d be fascinated to see what he does in the league and the Blazers are the team I follow the most, so I’d get to see him on the regular. We could regret it, he could end up being serviceable, he might even be great. I really don’t know, but I would enjoy watching it unfold for at least a year or two.
Just give me one player with big upside and 1 player that can contribute in near future. I still think we won’t keep both picks I expect this to be a busy trade day
I think the attitude on Edey is shifting to the positive. I remember when people "LOL"d" about even the idea of taking him with the Golden State Pick.
You're right. There should definitely be an "I wouldn't use a lottery pick on him, but I wouldn't mind if the Blazers traded for a 3rd pick to get him" option. All I'm saying is that I could just as easily vote item 2 or 3 and both would be accurate.
I'd rather not spend either lottey pick on guys who I don't see contributing as anything more than backups.
I'll tell you what. If it's Edey at 14 or Clingan at 7... I sure as shit hope our front office has a trade in place to bring value back for Deandre if they use one of our two lotto picks on these guys. Deandre seems to need to feel wanted and drafting either of these guys would probably hurt Ayton's psyche. Also if we're going to go in on one of these two I want them to get a ton of PT. Basically spending one of our top 2 picks on an old school C like we already have and then keeping our current old school C would frustrate me the same way that having Malcolm and Ant along with Scoot and Shae has frustrated me. It makes no fucking sense.
This is my sentiment exactly. I'd rather swing and miss at guys who can be real contributors (considering the rest of the roster) over getting guys who would 1)not get enough minutes to develop or 2)not have higher ceilings than the guy ahead of them. Seem like wasting picks.
Hmm...interesting thought experiment. So in this scenario: Sarr/ZR/Reed/Castle/Knecht/Clingan go 1-6 Blazers pick either Salaun/Holland/Williams/Buzelis at 7 Topic, Carter, Dillingham, Carrington, Walter and McCain all get selected in that 8-13 range and somehow all 3 forwards the Blazers didn't pick at 7 are still magically available at 14 Yeah, in that scenario, I'm probably taking a second forward instead of Edey.
I'll also say that if we're happy with Deandre then we should be looking at Ware with the 14th pick because he brings a ton of stuff to the 5 that Deandre doesn't.
