    From MSN:

The nature of the charges wasn't immediately known, the official told NBC News Justice Department correspondent Pete Williams, speaking on condition of anonymity. But because Angela Corey — the special prosecutor appointed by Florida Gov. Rick Scott to re-examine the case — previously announced that she wouldn't take the case to a grand jury, first-degree murder is not an option.

May the truth come out, and may justice be served - whatever they truly are.

Gee, see what due process and not rushing to judgement can accomplish? Maybe the SP has actually found some evidence with which to actually charge after investigating, as opposed to charging immediately and risking not having the evidence to convict.

Amen - totally agree. But now, there will be plenty of people who say, "All the media attention and all pressure from black leaders, including our Black President, are what ultimately pushed this forward."

Let due process take its' course and let's see what comes out at trial. There is simply too much to this to not take a deeper look at the case, and let a jury of his peers be the judge (because, as we know in Portland, police officers are not the best judges).

Do you think that's the case, or did they caved to extreme pressure from the national media?

I have very little faith in the justice system regardless, so even if he's guilty or innocent, the guy is probably screwed.

They should go ahead and make the gallows now.

That is part of my concern. We may never know whether it was due process or the media. As for me feeling like there's enough there that he should have to answer to a jury of his peers..... there will be people questioning the verdict regardless, but even more so if he is found guilty and half or more of the jury is black. Even if the evidence points to him being guilty. There is always going to be a group of people who are going to disagree and then make noise in the media. It happens with absolutely everything in this country.

Good luck on that fair trial thingy.

This guy, guilty or not, has already been convicted.

I think that the only way he has a CHANCE of being perceived as not guilty is if there's a trial. Is it fair? Maybe not. Did he kill someone? Yes.

Hopefully the facts are put on the public record and justice is done in accordance with those facts.

It was always obvious to me that he'd be charged.

How could they possibly find people to serve on the jury that haven't heard of the case or formed some kind of bias in one way or another?

they probably won't be able to. this will be an interesting circus. they're aiming kind of high here, wonder if they have any evidence not out there, otherwise this will just be a case of Zimmerman being tried in the media.
