<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">MIAMI ? As one group of kids walked behind their counselor in a single-file line at the Overtown Youth Center, a facility established by Heat center Alonzo Mourning, another group was waiting patiently to enter the classroom. The center, which opened in November 2002, is Mourning's vision. Its mission is to prepare the youth in Overtown, an impoverished, predominantly African-American section of downtown Miami, to become productive members of society. The project will benefit from the ninth annual Zo's Summer Groove, a series of events this week in Miami. "I want this center to change lives," Mourning said. "Basketball is short-lived. After that's all over, this is what I'm about." As the kids followed their counselor, they walked past the wall that had photographs of field trips ? to the zoo, Parrot Jungle, the beach. That same wall had photographs of the field trip to traditionally black colleges such as Morehead State in Kentucky and Florida A&M. All the while, the adult counselors buzzed around here and there, tending to kids, laughing with them, giving out hugs and generally keeping the two-building facility going, whether that meant fixing a front door or grabbing cartons of milk to distribute.</div> Source

He does so much for this city and is loyal</div> Lol very true, everyone calls him selfish for what happened in NJ and Toronto, but he is the total oppisite. He will not only be remembered for hhis play on the floor, but his impact on the community.
