ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill, who played with the Texas blues rock trio for over 50 years, has died at age 72.

“We are saddened by the news today that our compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, Texas,” surviving members Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard said in a statement. “We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature, and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top’. We will forever be connected to that ‘Blues Shuffle in C.’ You will be missed greatly, amigo.”

We were thinking of seeing them in concert later this year. I'm guessing concerts will be canceled. Not sure.

One of the great trio bassists of the generation....RIP....wondered why Billy was playing with a new trio on his last two solo records....Billy must be heartbroken today...as well as Frank....what a boogie band they were! I think Billy is older than Dusty...hopefully he will slow down the touring a bit after this

Girls may be crazy about sharp dressed men but one thing they don't like is long gross beards.

I saw ZZ Top at the old Paramount Theater in 1975. They wore ‘70’s style pastel suits (Dusty’s was pink) and white cowboy hats. Great show in a great venue. My wife (then my fiancé) is still pissed that I went with “the guys” instead of asking her. Like I said, great concert……………………….

you can probably watch that again on youtube or at least the same tour.....Billy's new album Hardware is awesome....his new band rocks the house ...last 3 albums he's made were the latin one, the blues one and the hardware new one which is straight up rock...he's finishing off his collection in style.....never got to see them live...I've seen them on youtube plenty though
