3.25... the team can make him a qualifying offer during the 2012 offseason. There is a Storyteller link in the top right corner of the page here under the SportsTwo dropdown

3+ seasons left on a cheap rookie deal means time (and contract leverage) is very much on Portland's side

Pretty much every Rudy unhappy story in the past has been total bullshit. Like the one last time where he supposedly went to the locker room pissed off after he was yanked, when it turned out he only went to the locker room to take a whiz.

Except, we supposedly have quotes now. It could be bullshit, but it seems like a stretch that a newspaper (even a European newspaper) would manufacture quotes, which would only seem to create more problems for Rudy than not.

Really? I never heard that it was just to take a piss? Who refuted that he was angry? I thought Pritchard or someone had to go get him?

It was refuted on one of the afternoon news tidbits on the radio the same afternoon. I can't remember who or when, but basically they said that whole thing was bullshit. They may or may not be lying. It's all just a web of bullshit at this point.

Because there's a very good chance it's bullshit.

I'm telling you people. Marca is a well known REAL MADRID propaganda paper. Madrid use Marca to unsettle European Football stars. They literally will make up quotes by the players, their agents and sometimes even family members and purposefully misinterpret them.

Don't get all riled up about this.

I wouldn't mind dealing Rudy at some point during his deal, but doing it now when he's playing like ass, coming off surgery and a summer where he played for Spain would be the definition of selling low.

It's definitely in his own self interest to play well, though.

Rudy has a pattern now of expressing his displeasure over playing time in the Spanish press. I used to think he had a point, but I really don't see the need to put up with a malcontent player that brings so little to the table on a nightly basis. The longer we wait to move him, the less leverage we have with other teams.

Maybe it is his personality and the way he comes across, but I have never got the feeling that Rudy truely likes playing in Ptd. I think it is just a matter of time before he is traded.

(I do get that impression from Batum, so it's not a euro thing)

I've always thought the exact opposite. And I've never gotten a centimeter of feeling from Batum one way or another.

it's all our own perspectives I guess.

If Rudy goes anywhere, it'll be New York.

No. At least as far as leaving to play basketball is concerned. FIBA teams and NBA teams respect each other's contracts - so a player can not be signed in both places (that's why Portland did not nab him after he was drafted as he was still under contract for DKV).

You're assuming he takes the qualifying offer, which he might not. The team doesn't have any leverage if he leaves and goes back to Spain in 2.25 years.

Great, let's deal him for Toney Douglas. We need another PGotF.

Because this shit is being made up by the Spanish news outlets. It's not a scoop, it's a lie.
