With all of the roster changes happening, I thought it would be good to have a thread to keep track of the Blazers Salary CAP info.

Here's an updated (2-18-16) look at the Blazers CAP situation -

The Blazers have $62,968,612 in total salary.

The CAP is at $70.0M. That gives the Blazers $7,031,388 of CAP space.

To get that cap space, they would have to:
    - Renounce the rights to Dorell Wright $4,075,500 (Signed with the Chongqing Soaring Dragons of the Chinese Basketball Association. Blazers retain rights / CAP Hold.)

A team can have up to 20 players on it's roster during the off-season, but must reduce that to 15 by the start of the regular season.

The minimum NBA team salary is $63 million for the 2015-16 season. Teams with a team salary below the minimum are surcharged for their shortfall, with the money distributed among the players on that team.

Since the Blazers dropped below the cap and use cap space to sign free agents, they lost their MLE ($5,464,000), but gain the Room MLE ($2,814,000).

The Max contracts for the 2015-16 season are:
0-6 yr NBA vet, 25% of CAP, $16,407,500
7-9 yr NBA vet, 30% of CAP, $19,689,000
10+ yr NBA vet, 35% of CAP, $22,970,500

I'm not a CAP Guru, so if you see any information that looks inaccurate, let me know.

Most of my information came from Basketballinsiders.com and CBAFaq.com.

If there's one thing you can say about the current Blazers is that there's not one bad contract on the roster ... yet

Plumlee's contract is great. $1,415,520 next year. Team option for 2016-17 for $2,328,530.

I think we should renounce everything. Since we're so far under the cap, just try to sign who we can. I think we should bring back Alonzo Gee, and either Matthews or Afflalo, depending on who will take a reasonable contract.

I think Plumlee was a great get. Would be an upgrade over Kaman for $3.5M, saving money to pursue a good starting center. Hendo can be our starting SG of we don't bring Wes back, but who do we plug as starting SF, and is Connaugton ready to step in as our backup 3?

Yea we would only have to match the salary we didnt have covered by capspace so is 20/14/13 were the salaries (cant remember what Hibbert will make this year) and we had 43m in capspace would only have to trade out 4m in contacts.

How much space would we have if LA signed a max deal? Enough to sign another max player?

If we signed LaMarcus to a max deal ($20,130000), we would then have $23,453,968 free. With that we could sign another 7-9 yr max player ($20,130,000) and have $3,849,061 left over. Or, we could sign a 0-6 yr max player like Greg Monroe ($16,775,000), and still have $7,204,061 left to spend.

Mike Tokito says the Blazers received a 3.3 trade exception as a result of the Batum trade that can be used or renounced.
