The trades have already started and rumors for available picks are flying about everywhere. Boston, Philly, Phoenix and Toronto among other have been reported to have their picks available for trade or sale.

I believe Portland will end up with a pick by the end of the day and may try to get a 2nd if the price is right. There might be some free-agents to replace as well as adding defense or another player that can create their own shot for themselves and also his teammates.

  • Utah has already traded the #12 pick for George Hill who they think will be a better fit with Exum.
  • Chicago ended the Derrick Rose era by shipping him for scraps to New York who now assumes his medical care. Robin Lopez will play for his 3rd team in three years out of the deal.

More is sure to follow...

I'm predicting Cle '18 1st + cash for 23 + 35.

I think GPII is the target at 35.

A defensive minded guard would be a good thing. Plus the local ties and since his dad would be around, might as well have him do some Color Commentary/Trash Talking.

I heard a rumor that fans are going to have unrealistic expectations for draft day and will become mad at Olshey for not moving the needle, then spiral into depression.

You mean we aren't getting the #4 pick for the rights to Daniel Diez?

It's a good draft in that there is not much difference between 8th and 20th pick in terms of potential, you could get a complete bust a 6th and a star at 22nd because a lot of these players seem at a very similar level. If we could somehow land two first round picks it's be very good but it won't happen. I hope for something in 18-25 range. If we wanted to move some of our better assets like Aminu or Plumlee they could probably get us into top 10 if George Hill gets you #12.

Blazers realize a Sabonis and Payton 90's would have been rings. I expect both to be Blazers by the end of the night.

I hope so! GPII has Avery Bradley potential on defense... He is so perfect in a 3 guard rotation with CJ and Lillard. Will be very disappointed if we can't get him with where he is projected in draft. Sabonis would be ideal if we can get in lottery... would give Blazers the low post scoring we are lacking. Both players can contribute immediately

I'm hoping for Kris Dunn, who has the defensive ability of a Payton with a refined, polished offensive game.

Maybe true, but the cost to get the 3rd pick will not be worth the risk... GPII we can pretty much get without giving up anything.

I think that we could trade a role player and future pick into the mid lottery if he's there. So many teams want to trade down.

Woj and his crew are doing some live show during the draft and you will probably get to hear some live woj bombs. Definitely watching this along with the draft.

Is there any blazer specific radio coverage this evening like in years past?

Welcome to RipCityTwo!

I like Lamb and the #22 as well especially if the Blazers think they are going to lose Crabbe. As of now though, that cuts in their cap quite a bit. Lamb has finally started to show signs of the talent he had in college and still has that massive 6'11" wingspan that you like in a defender.

If that is true about Maker, that has to drop him quite a bit as he was considered very raw for 19. If he is that raw at 22 most will think his ship has sailed.

The only way you lose Crabbe imo is if you can't spend your other free money in time on someone or some people.

Posted in another thread but applies here as well:
Crabbe might get 12 MIL but he still only counts as 2.7 MIL to us for 3 days after July 7th while we decide to match or not. So we have from July 1st to July 6th during the memorandum to get someone to agree to use up our cap space and then from July 7th to July 10th for someone to officially sign before matching on Crabbe.

I'm tempted to merge the summer and draft day threads. Seems like people are posting the same thing in each thread.

Draft Express just released an updated mock draft. Not sure what has changed, although it looks as if Deyonta Davis and Ivica Zubac moved up, possibly Sabonis a little also. Guerschon Yabasele has replaced Paul Zipser as first to go in the second round. http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2016/
