OT Fred Meyers goes full cuck

They're also going to stop selling magazines/periodicals that feature assault weapons. :MARIS61:

This one's an interesting one. First, their base is in the NW, so there are probably more Freddie's customers (my mom worked for them for 35 years) that like this political statement than not. (And don't get me wrong, this is absolutely a political statement). But it seemed like a hedge.

Any company can, at any time, change their business model and product line. And if Freddie's were to say something like "due to declining sales/market share/whatever with our firearms and sporting division, we're getting out of the firearms sales game and focusing on our other business units", I don't think there would be much of a ripple. Shareholder value trumps (no pun intended) a lot of things in business decision-making.

But to say specifically that a) it's due to Parkland, and b) they're getting rid of magazines with pictures of weapons in them, is a political statement. Which, again, may work out well since they're in a very "blue" part of the country. But I don't think that the ones that sold weapons were. :dunno: Freddie's hasn't stopped having Newsweek on the shelves near the checkout counter even with its plummeting market share, quality of writing and poor sales. But if you're going to do that, why bring up "declining sales"? Which one is it?

It'll be interesting to watch...

Fake news. That happened years ago. :)

Geez, caught red handed. Can't get away with anything in here.

Never understood why they didn't make other kinds. In any case, a Reuben sandwich, a coke and a Mrs. Neuschin dill pickle were alll it took to make the world a pleasant place to be in.

It's a Kroger company so I'll bet they're just following Kroger's leadership on this.

Yeah so now it takes two stops to buy everything. Fred Meyers for food, electronics, and jewelry and then a gun store for guns and hopefully sexy gun magazines. No biggie

Oh, you want Safeway in California. I went to a Safeway in Northern Cal. and while searching for some grocery items came across a liquor cabinet with guns mounted on a rack right behind the clerk. There you have it, guns and liquor at the same time. All that's missing are young girls.

Nope, buy food at Winco and most everything else at Amazon or Ross/Burlington. I'm cheap as fuck

3 stops, you forgot the porn.

Does anyone buy porn anymore?

Not at Safeway. They only deal in liquor and guns. But I'll bet they can direct you to a good porn store. I'll bet the porn store can direct you to young girls.

Speaking of Winco, they've been here 4-5 years and people just recently seem to have learned where to put their cart so not to block me at checkout

#3 Nationwide Kroger bought Freddies long ago, and they lost their local relationship with most customers soon after.

This certainly won't help them any here in Beautiful Central Oregon.

I remember I wrote that I didn't rat a black kid that worked at Winco when he left the bathroom stall without washing his hands.

Dviss told me if I would rat out a white kid I was being unfair. The next weekend an old guy left his cart in the way there and I bumped it with mine. I felt terrible and realized I couldn't treat everyone the same, not because they didn't deserve it but because I'd feel bad

And when I said bumped I meant rammed so it went rolling towards the mirrored glass by the bathrooms

I went to the bathroom at a local college a few decades back. While I was washing my hands a young man came out of a toilet stall and proceeded to walk out the door. I said "Hey, come back here and wash your hands" To his credit that's just what he did.

I was at a popular restaurant, again washing my hands when an employee came out of a toilet stall and walked out the door without washing his hands. I didn't say anything and to this day, years later, I feel guilty.

I built a box up in a fir tree, where none of the adults could get to.

True story here we come.

While in 5th grade my friends and I broke into an old school bus the guy across the street used for storage. I'm rummaging through stuff in the back and my friend opens a large igloo cooler and finds it stuffed with porn magazines. Cheri and Oui and Hustler mostly.

Before I can say let's take the whole thing my friends have it by the handles carrying it out of the bus and across the street into my friend's treehouse.

That's where I got my stash. We kept most of them in the treehouse for a couple of years until one day when we got off the school bus.

His dad said he found them and burned them. We ran to the burn barrel and there was no sign of anything being burned recently.

That lying fucker won the whole stash.

If they want to stop selling guns, whatever, that's their prerogative. Very few of their stores have a gun counter anyway.

If they want to stop selling magazines that feature guns... that's just..... corny.

With that said, who the hell buys magazines these days anyway?
