PRO: Kevin Love is still an all-star quality player, and the only one we have any shot at.
CON: But why would Cleveland trade him RIGHT AFTER giving him that massive contract?
PRO: Not to be indelicate, but their slightly crazy owner just had a stroke and it was probably his call to give Love that crazy contract.
CON: So you admit it's crazy? Especially because Love is (a) getting old and (b) ALWAYS injury-prone
PRO: ...which is the only reason we could conceivably trade for him, given that our only appealing players are the ones we want to keep.
CON: But if we get Love we'll have a cap-killing contract in a couple of years when we're trying to rebuild?
PRO: So fucking what? We could all be dead in a couple of years. Want to waste the one or two peak years Lillard has left on mediocrity?

KLove's outside shooting fits well with Nurk in the paint. Nurk can cover some of his defensive deficiencies.

Basically, we want to trade for ANYONE that is reasonably good, if we only have to trade scrubs.
However, I wouldn't give up significant resources for Love and his horrific contract.

I’ll go with B. We’re not gonna get him for a bunch of scrubs, even for expirings. It’ll cost either Simons or Collins. But are we going for it or not? Next season is a huge opportunity.

Remember also that we will be without Nurk for a big chunk of the season, and getting Love would be a way to keep us playoff-bound in that time.

Still would much rather have Blake Griffin and would probably be willing to give up Zach to get him.

For Love? This is a fine trade and it makes sense but I don't love him and his fit with this team. He gives up a lot defensively and is perpetually hurt. I'd still take a chance if expirings were all we're giving up.

If we're getting an injury prone PF with a massive contract, get Blake Griffin.

I'd love to get him on our squad. He'd add a much needed low post threat.

Probably Griffin is not available for those scrubs. He was amazing last year. I'm all for getting Love if it's that cheap though. We won't find anything better and if we are lucky with his injury proneness he can be a big boost in playoffs.

Blake is a popular name around here but Detroit was a playoff team last season and it’s more likely that they keep him and try to improve around him. He’s also more valuable than Love so you’re most likely not going to get him cheap, regardless of his contract/injury history.

WHOA! You know someone is bad when @dviss1 is advocating Griffin over that person.

Wow I am surprised by this. I said in another thread I would give up this year's #1....... but Simons or Collins. No way.
It is already too risky taking on the 4 year, 120 million dollar contract of an often injured player who is entering his 12 season. , but to give either of our 2 young assets would be too much.

I do think he is a good fit next to Nurk, Dame, and CJ, but I doubt anyone else wants his contract. Give them the ending contracts of the two Big 10 players ET (Ohio State) and Meyers (Illinois) plus a first round draft pick (this years) and that is it. Maybe add Trent.

Love has a shitty contract but he’s still really good player. They’re not going to just give him up for salary relief and a late first in a shitty draft. I don’t remember the last time that’s happened. Guys like him don’t get salary dumped. That’s saved for secondary talents like Crabbe. I’d love to be wrong though, I just can’t see it happening without including one of Simons/Collins.

We would have gotten away with stealing KLove...
If it weren't those darn salary caps...
and the fact that they'd want value in return.

Hopefully they are already trying to move him. That way they will quickly find out there is no interest...except for another bad salary.

I agree with going for it while Dame is in his prime. For all the reasons repeatedly cited, bringing in an over-rated, over-priced Love is not going for it.

Who plays PF the 30+ games a year Love is out injured each season. I am a big no on Love and would rather get someone like Millsap or Otto Potter Jr instead of Blake.

I hate the thought of Tristan Thompson as a Blazer...just hate it. Meyers is better than he is at this point in his career.
