I voted to trade him, might as well try and get some value that lasts beyond this season if at all possible. But at the same time I won’t expect anything to happen.

I like Whiteside but he isn't better then Nurkic when Nurk is healthy and we don't have the money to pay him 20+ million nor would I want to pay him that much.

Whiteside is an expiring deal who is putting up very nice stats - and there is no indication that anybody wants him. That should be a huge red flag for anybody who thinks we should re-sign him. There was a market for WCS, but not Whiteside.

the WCS 'market" was a team with a 2.2M trade exception and a need for a real cheap C who was playing for a team that didn't give a shit about winning. Not many teams have a 27M trade exception

lmao! The market for WCS, who I believe was on a vet minimum, was a second round pick. I'm sure teams would jump all over that for Whiteside if that's all it took and only a vet min contract. In Whiteside's case it will take salary in the 25 to 30 mil range in return and Portland isn't likely interested in a longer contract(s) of that size without at least getting other heavy compensation. You're comparing Ruth Chris steak house to Burgerking.

So we agree there are reasons he is unwanted. :dunno:

Unwanted with his current contract situtation, yes...

If he was on a $12m-$15m contract, he'd be very much sought after.

nobody want to take him on as an expiring deal. Guarantee you that if he was under contract for two more years, Whiteside would be coveted!

Uncertain of what you mean? I’m clear in saying that we should trade Nurkic this Summer if we can re-sign Whiteside. Or figure out a way to keep them both. Let Nurkic come off the bench. Who said it must be Whiteside coming off the bench? We all know it’s who’s on the floor at the end of the game. Maybe Nurk and Whiteside can play as twin towers at time? I’d love to see it!

maybe some of you don’t remember back this far, but for a brief moment we had Maurice Lucas AND Moses Malone on the roster! Oh the “what if’s” Walton goes down the very next year and with Lucas AND Malone we would have won a second title.....and more. All because Weinburger’s wife opted to keep Lucas instead of Moses!

keep Whiteside!!! He’s better than Love, Aldridge, etc.

No, because it could be the Blazers not wanting what's being offered. It's a very limited market for a 28 mil contract.

Nobody going to offer that again to him but he might be happy here playing for us. He already had his big contract so maybe he will he sign team friendly contract.

Oh, i definitely agree he's going to take a big pay cut. Problem is that he isn't a high priority for the team, but it's always a possibility.

He would only sign a team friendly contract if he could start.

You know no one knows goes behind close doors maybe they already talk to both players and they have agree to make it work with both on the same team. Everyone wants to assume that neither would like to play behind each other. Maybe they both talk to each other saying we could be monster with each other.
