Maybe, like his buddy Morey-on, he feels CJ is undervalued, and is waiting on his buddy to finally concede, and makes the deal. Granted it's early, but look at the Rodgers situation in Green Bay. It has a chance to fester fast. Maybe it's better to make a deal now, and limit the potential damage while you can.

i don't want to speculate on all that in the past. What is in front of us now is Simmons, and multiple people remain unconvinced that we would give up CJ for Ben.

There were obvious caveats involved with PG. The talk about George was that he was bound to LA in his free agency, and him sticking around in OKC was a huge surprise to everyone. There was NOTHING about CJ for Kawhi or Butler at al-- think you're making these up in your head and have talked about it so many times, you believe it to be real. I remain convinced Harden only wanted to go to BK or Philly and used Portland only as a leverage play.

Regardless, we did get some hints that he would trade CJ this summer (from Quick) and from himself if you read through the lines in his interviews. However, the recent rumors suggest otherwise.

Just Ugh!!! Simmons or not keeping CJ at this point is so fucking idiotic. I hope we've all been fooled and CJ is moved for a piece that makes more sense but the more I read what you guys are saying the more undeniable it seems that Olshey will hold onto CJ and it will cost us Dame before the 2022-23 season starts.

If its true he wouldn’t swing for Kawhi, Butler, PG13 and now Simmons in order to keep...perennial non-All star Cj McCollum, just what the ever living F?!?!

I agree with most of what you've said here. I think the biggest question left out of the discussion though is, assuming that Olshey is ready to move CJ, what other options might be out there beyond Simmons? Simmons is an interesting player who would bring a lot to the Blazers, but I'm not convinced that he'd be happy in Portland. His list of 3 California teams (Lakers, Clippers & Warriors) would seem to indicate that he wants to go to an established title contender. It would piss me off to see the Blazers trade CJ away and end up with Simmons refusing to report to the team or pouting in a Blazers uniform. So I have no problem with Olshey being reluctant to dive into the Simmons deal (assuming Morey is even actually willing to back off his Lillard-or-bust position).

I dunno the PG13 one seems solid. Harden trade seemed right there if we wanted it. Kawhi is slightly understandable as he was a clear rental, but Butler and maybe now Simmons?!??

Well, if you believe Windhorst, Neil's plan is to play this year out and see how Chauncey changes things, and then throw an extension (~2yrs, 100 mil) Dame's way come summer as a way to entice him to stay.

I keep wondering when this CA team LIE will finally die on this board. Its fake, false and fraudulent.

As to your question, there is no other impact player available and we got one season to please Dame. Its Simmons or bye bye Dame.

So his plan is mediocrity. Fits the MO. Further hamstringing the cap into Dames twilight ears rather than trade CJ...is that worse than blowing it up and trading Dame?!?!

There was 0 noise about Butler or Kawhi in play for CJ. That is 100% made up.

PG was a maybe but we heard reports of Pritchard unwilling to deal with Portland and Olshey's offers being stupid underwhelming in fears of PG bouncing in his upcoming free agency.

Harden was definitely not RIGHT THERE. Come on now. He only wanted BK or Philly and made a ton of noise about it. The Portland rumor came about only to push Houston to make a move. And why would a clearly rebuilding Houston want CJ in the first place?

Then he's a moron because I don't think money is the main driving force for Dame right now.

Thats fair and makes sense. My fury at Olshey is almost boundless at the moment. Make the god damn trade Neil! His supposed “plan” is to lock us into mediocrity for the next decade apparently?!?! Nightmare fuel.

We also had a recent rumor on here that Neil offered everything but Dame and Roco for Simmons. But everyone is going to ignore that one and go with the untouchable one instead, because it fits their preferred bitching.

Can Dame be extended next off season with two more years on his contract, with an option for a third?

Windhorst has been on this for the past week in multiple podcasts. It's an extension for two more years after his current one is over. Apparently that's allowed in the current CBA.

I get the frustration cuz i too would be absolutely pissed at the idea of dismissing a CJ for Simmons idea.

But i dunno about making up stuff from the past to fit the narrative about Olshey.

Whoa, take a breath Idog. I'm not sure where you're getting this information that the California team report is a "LIE", but please share your information if you have it. I'm just going with published reports: https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/w...-simmons-prefers-trade-three-california-teams

And you seriously believe that there are no other impact players who are available or will be by the trade deadline? That seems inconsistent with what happens nearly every year in the NBA with major trades starting in late December. Also, I'm not sure that Dame is all-in on trading CJ; they're pretty good buddies.
