They lost in the ECF to the eventual champs in an insane game 7 Kawhi multi-bounce buzzer beater a few seasons ago (edit: it was the Semis, but they took the champs to 7 games)? They also were the #1 seed just last season. Compare to us lucking our way into the WCF via key injuries only to get monkey hammered by the Warriors.

The California rumors have been repeatedly debunked and sourced to a Warriors' sports pundit at the height of Warriors-Sixers trade talks. It's false I'd love for us all to move on from this particular falsehood.

that was the semi's when they lost to Toronto

but your overall point is fine. Since the 76ers made it back to the playoffs in 2018, their playoff record is 20-19. In the same period, Portland's playoff record is 11-20; which coincidentally is half of their 22-40 record in the Stolshey era. Any Blazer fan bragging about a .354 playoff winning percentage over an 8 years period should go stand in the corner wearing a pointy hat

oh really? My bad. I swore that was the ECF. The Sixers were the #1 seed last year so as you said, the point remains, but I concede I got that one wrong.

Not sure if this is relevant to Simmons but:
How has the talent level progressed in the NBA? Rick Carlisle: The game has evolved to where the skill of shooting is so decisively important. If you can’t shoot, it’s very hard to be a high-level player in today’s game. The next phase of NBA basketball is going to be the centers shooting 3’s and driving the ball and making plays. Guys like [Kristaps] Porzingis are already doing it. Guys like Anthony Davis are already doing it. We’ve got [Domantas] Sabonis, who is a playmaking big, who’s working on his long-range shooting. That opens up so many possibilities for any player in this league.

CJ+2 young players+2 FRPs+ a pick swap seems an awfully high price for Beal.

This is the trade in question

Portland Trail Blazers Receive: G Bradley Beal
    Washington Wizards Receive: G CJ McCollum, G Anfernee Simons, F Nasir Little, 2022 First-Round Pick, 2023 First-Round Pick Swap, 2024 First-Round Pick

I would not do this. I don't like Beal's fit with Dame and Norm any more than I like CJ's... Beal is just better at what CJ does. We need a forward not another guard... especially if we were giving up CJ, Ant, Nas, 2 firsts and a swap. (just a side note... we don't have a 2022 first round pick).

He said shooting and playmaking. Ben is a 6'11 dude averaging 8 assists a game for his career and is an elite playmaker

Beal is overrated as a mother fucker. He's not that much better than CJ, while being more injury prone.

Lucking our way? OKC and Denver were both fully healthy. OKC was 4-0 vs us and Denver had HCA. No luck about it.

IDog likes to forget the Blazers were without Beast Mode Nurk. He does that ALL the time. Then he will put his favorite "rolling eyes" picture with his rebuttal. There was no luck involved, just Dame being Dame, and some nice role player contributions.

the biggest difference is FTA. It used to be 3pt attempts but CJ started getting up more threes last year.

But the last step in CJ's offensive efficiency is drawing more free throws. With his 3pt% and FG% his true shooting needs to be a lot higher than it is, and i think it comes down to driving more and trying to finish at the rim instead of settling for midrange jumpers while shading away from contact.
