Assuming we have the full MLE, who you targeting? This FA class stinks, but let’s hear it.

I’ll start

Jalen Smith

It hard to say since we really don’t know what direction the franchise is heading towards. But let say we are keeping dame and end up trading for grant. Resign Nurk and simons. I would offer TJ Warren, Kyle Anderson, RoCo, and nic batum. Any of them would be a solid vet to add to this team. Giving us a deep and versatile team
Dame, simons, hart, grant, Nurk, little, MLE, Winslow, Watford, lottery pick. Add a vet center for cheap.

isn't Smith still restricted into what teams can offer him in FA? think he can only make what he woulda made in his 4th yr of his rookie deal. So a bunch of teams can compete to get him at 4.6 mil.

My pick is Rubio.

No, he’s unrestricted.

i didn't mean restricted as in RFA. i mean prevented from getting any contract that pays him more than 4.6 mil.

Why would any team have limitations on how much they can offer a UFA? I think that only applies to the pacers.

he's not a typical UFA. because Phoenix didn't pick up his 3rd yr option, the max any team can offer him is what he was originally owed from his rookie scale deal.

Pretty sure that’s not true. That only applies to what the Pacers can offer him. That’s why no one really wanted to trade for him.

i read it somewhere during the deadline. the first yr of the new deal has to be 4.7. not sure why it would only apply to Indy if he's a UFA.

hope one of our cap guys can clear this up.

It applies only to Indy because they’re the ones that received his contract with the declined option. What you’re suggesting doesn’t make sense.

Scalma is right, the Pacers can't offer him more than the $4.6 million but any other team can.

I wonder how much he’s gonna get. He’s played well for Indy, but I remember a similar situation happened with Hezonja, magic declined his option, and he popped off at the end of the season. He got 6M from the Knicks but only one year. I’m guessing Smith will get more just cuz of his position.

Well I stand corrected. Wonder why Indy traded for him

He was just an expiring contract to help them get off Torrey Craig’s money next year. And they also got a pick I think.

Jalen SMith is definitely intriguing. Putting up some good numbers in a small sample size in Indy.

THE CBA closed a loophole where a team could decline a rookie option, and offer a player more money in salary, to lock them up longer. It, unfortunately, applies to whatever team owns his rights at the end of the season, not just the team that drafted him.

Ok Jalen Smith is playing some unbelieveble basketball. He absolutely has to be a target

I think a fwds rotation of little, Winslow Waterford and one of Anderson or young signed for the mle or the better part of it is intriguing. It looks a whole lot better with the potential grant acquisition Imho. I really like smith but see him as more of a 5 defensively in billups defense.

Are we talking tax payer/mini MLE because I'm pretty sure if Nurk and Ant take up 40M in cap space for next season that the full MLE will take us into the tax and that will hard cap us which would render the TPE that everyone says made the CJ deal more palatable useless.

I've been pointing that out. Unless something drastic happens during the draft, I think there's little chance the Blazers use the full-MLE
