that's total bullshit. When has Dame ever said the Blazers are one player away?

Yeah its a problem with LeBron, Durant, Irving, Kawhi, etc trying to manage their teams and getting in the way. Agreed its much more common now. I wish we had more owners with a backbone who would stand up and say no.

Reasonable conclusion from his demands of trading the pick for a veteran.

If Dame doesn't think we're a veteran away - then your saying he is demanding a veteran to get no chance to win? That makes even less sense and shows Dame is worse than just delusional.

Did Dame demand "a" veteran? Yes it's semantics, but so is the "Dame thinks we're one player away" strawman.

If Miller is there at 3, he's a Blazer.

He hasn’t, but he wants to add a friend, and we don’t have enough pieces to add more than one. He HAS to know that. After this year of mediocrity he’ll want out and we’ll be stuck with Nurk and Grant’s shitty contracts along with whatever buddy of Dame we bring in. I don’t blame Dame for wanting to win, but we aren’t in position to do what he wants

I think Miller is too good of a scorer with 6' 8" size for Kupchak to pass up.

If Blazers can't get any of Brown/Bridges/Siakam for #3 do you still think they trade it?

The move seems to be Brown. And I think barring any significant changes in what Boston demands, it seems like it's going to be Simons/#3 for Brown. If that's the case, I imagine we will also see the Knicks pick and some second rounds go out for another key role player.

    Dame
    Sharpe
    Brown
    Grant
    Nurk

    Backup PG = ???
    Backup SG = Thybulle
Backup SF = Little or Reddish
Backup PF = Watford or ???
    Backup C = Eubanks or ???

So the biggest question marks for me is backup point guard and maybe power forward. I really think the plan is to try to get Draymond from Golden State.

    Nurk/Nas/couple seconds for Draymond.

So now you have a starting lineup of:

    Dame
    Sharpe
    Brown
    Grant
    Draymond

Think I'd start a bigger physical center even though the 5 you list would get the bulk of MPG. I like Sharpe getting more shots on the 2nd unit to start the year as 6th man. Bruce Brown would've been amazing for full MLE last year: let's say Denver wins the title and for some reason he moves on:

    Dame Mays
    Brown Sharpe
    Grant Brown
    Green Thybulle
    Drummond Watford Eubanks

    Would be a fun lineup.

Why would Boston trade Brown for Simons and a draft pick? That doesn't seem like a good deal for them immediately.
Wouldn't there be someone better to replace Brown's production?

Drummond is terrible man. Absolutely terrible. I can try to go find the video breaking it down, but his stats are extremely hollow. There's a reason why he has bounced around the league in the last three years.

They need three point shooting and Brown wants out. #3 is star potential.

I don't think he said that specifically, but the alternative, is that we are 2-3 veterans away....which we don't have the assets to acquire, at least vets that will make the necessary difference. PLEASE don't mortgage the future for a higher degree of mediocrity.

Probably but he will have a say on who that team is. So that could narrow it down a bit. And they might want to save some money

first off...sorry about the tone of my earlier reply. Too aggressive

pivoting to what you just wrote though it seems to me you're making several negative assumptions about Dame and about what the Blazers have as leverage. Dame is an 11 year vet who has been in all-star games and works out with other NBA players. I think he has a lot of friends among players. Some of them are players like Giannis or Lebron or Embiid or Bridges. It's not like Dame's friends don't have talent. And it's certainly not the case there's any evidence Dame's ask of the Blazer F.O. has stipulated "friend or else"

you also don't know for certain that Dame will ask out after this year. He said similar things last summer. And he for damn sure said similar things after the 2020-21 playoffs when the 6th seed Blazers failed miserably against Denver in the first round after Dame played like the best player in the association and all of his teammates just shit the bed and failed. 6'3 Powell trying to guard 6'10 Porter was a fucking joke. And CJ got outplayed by Monte Morris while being paid 18 times as much salary. Olshey's response to that failure: exchange Melo for Nance by locking up Portland 1st round picks for perpetuity.

and Dame hasn't asked out yet. He still may not ask out no matter what happens in the draft & off-season. I think Dame hated Olshey, with good reason. And he's hoping Cronin can change the direction.

we don't know what's going to happen. You and others are assuming the worst and constantly reminding everybody the worst is coming. Any suggestion of a little hope seems to be a red flag for some of you guys to come charging in with your forecasts of doom trying to snuff out the hope before it takes root. Siakam is not enough of a good start; neither is Bridges; neither is Brown. Dame & Embiid wouldn't be good enough because, 'what about the backups'. If Portland trades the pick they are losing a generational talent. If Portland keeps the pick it will still be 6-7 years before the Blazers are contenders; maybe longer.

maybe give it a rest until something actually happens. Let those of us who want to think about keeping-Dame possibilities do so without all of the fucking doom & gloom.

the trade Dame advocacy has gotten so goddamn ridiculous you've got posters here creating dumbass petitions and crapping on Dame for not recruiting stars to Portland. Meanwhile others are crazily hyping up completely unrealistic fantasy returns from trading Dame. But that's ok you see because it justifies trading Dame. At the same time, the Blazers would pay way way way too much in any trade that gets Dame help and that, of course justifies trading Dame too. Funny how that works
