this is kind of where I've landed....although a big part of the motivation is not wanting Clingan but I absolutely think the Blazers have to swing for the fences in their draft picks. Grab guys with the highest upside potential. And it would be much better if they were wings and stretch-4's. From everything I've seen, that would be Salaun at 7 and Ware at 14
No doubt Ware has some impressive physical tools, but he seems to not process the game very quickly and moves too much like many bigs that have busted in the pass (ie Skal, Wiseman). Shows up most in 2v1 help situations/ when he has to react quickly, but with discipline. Add that he doesn't seem to really know where he's bread is going to be buttered offensively and it's a pass for me. Can't buy the Lively comps at all either. Loved Lively for his motor, processing on both ends and self awareness offensively. All areas where Ware struggles currently.
I like Lively but I wonder how this board would feel about him if he was a Blazer. Can't shoot 3s (0-2) Free throws (50%) or rebound 6.9 per game. My guess is we would still like him....until he got paid.
I know a good part of the shifting the draft to two days was to increase movement, or give executives more time between rounds/picks, but I gotta also believe part of it is due in large part to the popularity of the NFL draft. So they put round 2 on at 1 pm local time on a Thursday? wtf?
he explains in a subsequent post that for him Risacher is a 5th tier prospect, essentially a g-league tier player. He also doesn’t view Cody Williams as a draftable prospect.
I think the Nets have come to the realization that they need to start over. Trade Bridges and get Castle and you have your PG for the next decade. The Rockets get Bridges and probably dump Brook's contract
My 2 biggest hang ups with taking Clingan are 1) watching Edey own him in the tournament and 2) his cardio is bad...like, real bad. OTOH Edey is said to be in great condition. I'm not saying take Edey, I'm saying I think Clingan has more drawbacks than just his foot speed.
Rumors of #3 for Bridges going around twitter today. This absolutely pisses me off to no end after hearing multiple times that the Nets rejected 3 AND Ant for Bridges last summer in a far better draft. Idiots.
Yeah but this is much better draft. OK I am kidding, I am guessing they just were not ready to start over last year. And a Castle-Thomas backcourt is a not bad way to go.
The best part of most internet rumors is that by the time you hear about them they are already dead. The last long lasting rumor I can remember actually happening was Jerami Grant becoming a Blazer.
Like that Jeremy Grant to Portland thing. And the Ayton to Portland thing. J/k, you're probably right.
