Memphis found a starter in the 2nd round. Castle looks like he has star potential. Knecht looks like an above average role player. Missi looks really nice. Clingan looks like he could be a defensive beast if he stays healthy.

It was a good year to not get a top 3 picks. Now there’s a draft where we really need a top 3 pick and other teams are tanking harder than us. We should’ve scrapped the vets for whatever in return over the offseason. Instead we’re going to hold onto them too long and mess up our chances for a top pick in this loaded draft. Which is very cringy.

when it comes to Edey, i hate to impose double-standards but thats the nature of the game when it comes to this draft stuff(n times 20 when ur talking backup C's), u gotta be good enough to help -- this isnt some popularity contest..

n he's a fatbody..

Cuz truly FROM THE BLAZERS POV --- this is how it is... Zach Edey at 306 lbs... He might as well be Gomer Pyle hiding jelly donuts in his footlocker --- they'd both be of equal use to this roster...

So called widebody is #4 in the rookie ratings.

Flagg went off for a smooth 42. Imagine the guy after 5 nba years when he is an old fart at 23-4. POR has to seriously start benching the vets, letting youth start and close games. Talkin to you Billups! They have to maximize odds of getting the best pick possible. If they miss out of the top 5 pick this year will be an even worse failure than it already is.

I've been saying that I wish we were playing a smarter game of capture the Flagg. Ace Bailey is badass as well. If we end up outside of the top 3 lotto spots and end up outside the top 2 picks then it'll be worse mismanagement of the team than letting LaMarcus walk for nothing.

I say this because at least 5 of our wins have been with either Ant or Jerami leading the way.

its a low I.Q., low statistical strategy… not hard to apply better logic lol

Scoot has to be closing games. How is supposed to excel on crunch time ? Even if he blows it, so what?

It's low IQ to win meaningless games heavily featuring guys who won't be around when the wins count, even if they only increase your odds of landing a generational talent by a fraction of a percent. I don't care how low the odds are... wins this season aren't worth making them lower.

And what are you laughing out loud about?

I’m about creating winning culture, not a 10% chance at some dude that it doesn’t really actually matter if we win 20 games or 30 games because it’s still not great odds either way.

TANK4FLAGG is by default a low I.Q. strategy because it’s hardly even a strategy.

Is it @THE HCP or has this rookie class not really lived up to the hype?
I think they were called the worst rookie class in over a decade by almost every basketball prospect expert out there. Most of us as fans of the Blazers still wanted the best draft position possible last season so we had the best chance to get the most productive guy but I don't remember any hype for the 2024 draft class.

Risacher has started most of the games for his team and they're in sixth in the East. Sarr looks like he has decent upside. No one was saying there was a sure fire all star in that draft class and it seems to be panning out that way... but wait, aren't you the one that says we should give these young guys some time before we pass any judgment on them???

Now this upcoming draft has a lot of hype. The 2025 draft class has a lot of guys that the experts are saying will be all stars. Flagg, Bailey and Dylan Harper are all getting that can't miss type of hype.

Agreed and would say they have probably overperformed. No one setting the world on fire but some surprise contributors.

Yes. Look at this guy drafted # 14. I wonder if he would be doing as well with our coaching?
Kel'el Ware goes for 25 to help Heat beat Spurs
i_57_9a_0e_kelel-ware.png

Tim Bontemps: Final: Heat 128, Spurs 107 Kel’el Ware with the game of his career thus far, going for 25 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks in 34 minutes off the bench and spending large chunks of the game guarding Victor Wembanyama, who had 21 & 10 ahead of the Spurs flying to Paris.

There was no hype. That's a straw man you've been beating on for a year now. Doesn't mean it should stop us from looking at prospects when we have a pick in the draft
Not sure what a straw man is, but yes this past draft was predicted to fucking suck and it has. Man a few of you mouth breathers were mad at me for that huh? Oh well, where are they now? Off to google who/what a straw man is…….

Huh? Clingan is one of our better prospects. A few of us were excited at adding talent. But sure, keep telling yourself people thought it was the best draft ever. Tell me you understand nuance.

aren’t you an advocate for practicing patience with Scoot? But you’re here letting everyone know that everyone from this draft is cooked after 40 games? Sigh.

sure, but right now who do you think are the leading candidates for ROY?

STOMP

I think it's a Wizard Of Oz reference...

I’d take Ware over Clingan and Edey. He’s way more of what you want in a modern big man. In a league where spreading the floor and being able to guard multiple positions is pivotal.

I don’t think my stance on this has changed.

Yeah... a more mobile guy in today's NBA may have been a wise decision. I've been beaten into just being less annoyed when our front office doesn't fuck up the worst they possibly can at this point. There were rumors and I'm assuming they were true that we were willing to trade up to make sure we got Clingan. I like Clingan as a change of pace old school big that we can put out there and make teams pay if they don't match up with him but Ware does seem to have more effective minutes in him in more situations than Clingan does.

SMH. This front office is one of the absolute worst.

A few bright spots but not much. Deni was definitely worth the shitty 14th pick or whatever it was. The shooter from Philly, Clingon, Edey are promising.
