The Luka trade was sketchy as fuck. They never opened it up for offers. Nobody had heard anything. He was dealt for a very mediocre haul and the Mavs have just taken it on the chin for months. Their fans are in open revolt and their ownership is being bashed by local politicians. And now suddenly they beat the odds and get the number one pick.

I don’t understand you guys. We accept that politicians are corrupt and dirty shit. We accept that corporations in big pharma and Tobacco and big agg do shady shit to make money. But the idea that the NBA would rig shit to boost viewership is completely outside the realm of possibility.

West was almost more loaded since if the 6ers didn't get in the top4 that pick would've gone to the Thunder.

Don’t call me a Trump supporter mother fucker. I voted for Harris and I find that extremely offensive with that he’s doing in this country.

I'd rather have the Ainge pick at #5 than our pick at #11.

It's almost like when teams traded away their superstar it's because they sucked and had a good chance at a high lottery pick.

I mean that or some crazy flat earth conspiracy.

    Exactly

Kyle (@HailBlazers) and I were at the game when Luka got traded. When we found out, we looked at each other and had the same thought. Dallas was getting the #1 pick.

    Luck my ass

How has viewership been down a ton? Just signed a massive TV contract this year. As others have said why would the other 28 owners go along with such a harmful strategy.

Y'all that think this is rigged are acting like delusional flat earthers.

Really doesn't matter what logic someone replies with - you'll find a way to connect the dots on the conspiracy.

Let’s call you a Nazi Trump supporter and see how you like it. If anything, I’d say the blind support of the NBA is more in line with the MAGA apologists who support whatever Trump does.

    Are you MAGA?

Blind support? It's a fucking sports league. I support my team.. I hope for the best. I don't spend hours and hours of my life on it and then complain about how much I hate it over the last like 10 fucking years.

It’s a corporation just like ENRON and Monsanto and Philip Morris. Or do you trust all corporations to do everything above board?

I root for my team to succeed. I don't root for the NBA. It's not a matter of "trust". It's a sports league. If you don't trust it then don't spend half your life following it, covering it, posting about it, tarting a podcast about it and watching it. Fuck off and enjoy life. But you can't quit it.

They had the same shit happen to them a few times, iirc. I distinctly remember that happening again the year after Oden was drafted.

Because I love the Blazers and hate the fucking NBA. I hate the commissioner. I hate the refs. I hate the Lakers. If we had another pro team maybe I would fuck off. But this is all we have. We pretend that all the corrupt bullshit with superstar treatment doesn’t exist in the hopes that some day maybe we will have the superstar that gets insane favoritism. I grew up with this shit and I can’t just quit it but I don’t love it as much as I did when I was a kid.
