Did he retire, or was he looking for too much money?</div> I think he`s just on the FA market still, he may end up retiring too.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting bruin007:</div><div class="quote_post">Does anyone know what happened to players who most recently played for the NBAmost notably: Tim Hardaway, Isiah Rider, Wesley Person, Glen Rice, Travis Knight, Mookie Blaylock, Terrell Brandon, oh yeah and this one guy I dont know if he ever got drafted but he played for Georgia Tech when they faced UCONN in the final four I think his name was Is'mail Mohammad he was one of the greatest dunkers iv'e ever seen in the mold of dominique... also do you think there's a chance for any of these guys to come out of retirement?</div> Those player were FUN to watch. Mookie was into drugs, hope he's doing well & not an addict. Rider, what a loser. Rice was THE MAN. Lives in Miami & is at many of the Heat's games. (His wife is a hotty!) Anyone remember Chris Jackson?? His story is a cool one on why he became so good. And who can forget Hardaway with his ankle breaking xover. He was awesome as well. Wesley was always in bro's shadow, Chuck, the rifleman.

He did put up good stats in college, I was defiently positive he was going pro.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting LRVBADASSBALLIN:</div><div class="quote_post"> And I can't believe no one picked him up.</div> Probably because he is too old and plays no defense. For every 10 points he scores he gives up 20.

The one with Tourette's? That was an interesting story. He's only known for his not standing the national anthem at this point. Talk show pundits won't ever let that one go.
While we're on interesting stories, how about Brian Williams, aka Bison Del? Now that's a bizarre story. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bison_Dele

Yah, he's know for the anthem thing, ALMOST breaking Calvin Murphy's free throw record & of course for being a big stud at LSU & a lights out shooter in the NBA. Kenny Smith is still friends with him & brings him up every now & then on TNT. I remember seeing a special on him back in the mid 90's. His Tourettes would not let him leave the bball court w/o making a pefect shot. The perfect snap of the net had to feel & be perfect. He would end up being out all night long shooting & crying because he wanted to go home so badly! LMAO, that's some crazy ***** huh? Hahhaha. I can't even imagine that. Also, he would spend like 10-30 mins. tying his shoes.

There's been ALOT of Williams in the league over the yrs. That's too bad & sad news.

Been wondering about Rodney Rogers myself. An underrated player who was unlucky in his team attachments during the formative years in the league: Nuggets and Clips. Despite that, he emerged as a bench stud in Phoenix with a 3-pt. weapon and became the "6th man of the year." A good mini-run for Boston followed all the way to the Eastern Finals, then a nice contract with the Nets saw Rodney walk away from a nice pay check for a player's option his last year and hook up with the Hornets for less money. They traded him to Philly where he was probably their most reliable bench player and sometimes starter in 2005. No one picked him up in 2006. I cannot find any reliable information and remain surprised that with all the bums in the League he wasn't signed by a club by Jan. of '06. Would love to hear if someone knows (really knows) why Rogers never got picked up last year, or maybe he was mentally retired from the game.

Watched him play at Wake growing up, as well in the NBA.
I thought this thread was gonna go into players who lived interesting or not-so-interesting lives after the nba, not just particular stars who just faded away. I was always interested in what players do after the nba, especially some of the lesser known players who can't live the rest of their lives off the money they earned in the league (due to injuries or maybe they just foolishly spent most of their money). Like what kind of jobs do these guys get? Are some players working as security guards like Gary Coleman? I heard Ed O'Bannon owns a used car shop.... but that's probably the only former nba'er with a regular job that I've heard of. Or maybe there are more Bison Dele's or Keon Clark's, both of whom have interesting stories to tell after their nba careers.

What's the latest with Williams, the big that shot his limo driver. Remember?
Keon Clark's upside never blossomed and he was cut last year. For every success story about jumps to the NBA from school ball there are 5 or 6 not so happy endings. Jayson Williams was out of basketball before he was grossly negligent with a loaded firearm committing a terrible homicide albeit unintentional, but the level of negligence is just below intent on the scale of human misconduct. Williams destroyed his knee at the height of his career, but fortunately after he had signed a max contract. John Lucas used to say when the cheering stopped he couldn't, and cocaine kept the postgame high going. Jayson Williams clearly needed people around him and apparently firearms, but he was starting to scare people.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting LRVBADASSBALLIN:</div><div class="quote_post">I would like to know too! Watched him play at Wake growing up, as well in the NBA.</div> The Durham Bull had another 2 or 3 years of solid bench help with scoring from the preimeter that could open the lane for a Vince Carter or an Allen Iverson. He's a good man off court and could be a steady locker-room presence. His weight and rumors of lack of conditioning were oft-exaggerated by the press for sensational effect.
