<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CARLSBAD, Calif. -- Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss was arrested early Tuesday for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol. The 74-year-old Buss was taken into custody shortly before 1 a.m. after he drove his gold Mercedes-Benz station wagon the wrong way on a street in an unincorporated section of Carlsbad that has double yellow lines, California Highway Patrol officer Tom Kerns said. "Although I was driving only a short distance, it was a bad decision and I was wrong to do it," Buss said in a statement issued by the Lakers. "It was a mistake I will not make again." A 23-year-old woman in the vehicle with Buss wasn't arrested, Kerns said. He said Buss was "relatively cooperative" when placed under arrest and was booked into the Vista jail for investigation of drunken driving and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or above. Buss was released around 10:30 a.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department Web site. Kerns said the final results of Buss' blood alcohol test won't be available for about three weeks. Highway Patrol officers Sal Gutierrez and Julie Cahill administered field sobriety tests using an alcohol screening device, Kerns said. Lakers spokesman John Black said Buss was in the Carlsbad vicinity because he has a home in north San Diego County. Buss' primary residence is in the Los Angeles suburb of Playa del Rey. Jerry Buss is really stupid to do this. Kobe wants West, so you drink and drive? What is with the 23 year old girl with him? Well, he'll just get a slap on the wrist because he is Jerry Buss, but at least we was cooperative, and was released.

He's a ladies man. Is this rock bottom for the Lakers offseason, or will there be more drama to unfold?

I cant see this getting worse then it already is. Just pathetic.

Buss is just a guy with his 23 year old acquaintance who Drank and Drove, luckily no one was hurt and he is OK.
I don't think this dooms the offseason. Worse could of happened, he could of hit someone and/or killed them, cause property damage, resist arrest, or have even a higher BAC. I think this will blow over fairly quick, it will go ever faster if Buss convinces the media and press that he is sorry and regrets it.

I guess Buss is already stressed out about the problems in the Lakers organization. I guess he was going to get lucky with that 23 year old women!

<div class="quote_poster">THE DREAM Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">nice to see Buss making some moves this offseason....</div> haha What's with the outrage, everyone? If this were the first grade, he would totally be given the "you're a star!" sticker. All I know is I'd love to have his life.
I can't help but giggle when I read that a 74yr old man is arrested for a DUI...with a 23yr old woman no less..

Anyone else getting the impression that the Lakers, as an organization, are trying to make up for their not being a story via their play by making themselves into a 3-ring circus to take attention away from the Playoffs? I mean, I'm pretty much always sick of hearing about the Lakers, but right now the only stories I'm hearing about are: the Yankees aren't good, and the Lakers aren't good and can't get enough drama. Sound about right?
