I figured you were talking about Miller, but I didn't bring it up. Was it a cheap shot, yes but you've got too look at it from Kobe's angle. He was being raped repeatedly, everyone has a breaking point. It's unfortunate, but things happen...I'm sure if you asked them, they'd have no grudge against each other. Shaq wouldn't be a Laker, did you miss when Shaq came out and said Kobe was right when he said that the management told him that Shaq wasn't coming back? Shaq was out of shape, not dedicated, and simply wanted to much money. He wanted an extension that gave him 30 million a year. Nobody in their right mind was going to pay him that, and nobody did. Why are you trying to debate that when everyone and their mother has came out and said Kobe here or not, Shaq wasn't returning? And also, if I recall correctly...Shaq requested a trade anyways after we were ousted by the Pistons in the finals....am I wrong? I do agree with Gasol, he has every right to call out for his team to make changes. Hell, I think every superstar has that right to do that. Winning drives most superstars, if they're team isn't winning and isn't trying to get those pieces around them to win...they've got every right to be pissed off.

They gotta play within the game. You have to keep your cool, because it will hurt your team. Kobe being suspended for a couple of games certainly didn't help the Lakers. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Shaq wouldn't be a Laker, did you miss when Shaq came out and said Kobe was right when he said that the management told him that Shaq wasn't coming back? Him demanding a trade is good enough answer. The $30 mil extension is pretty much irrelevant because he didn't get that from the Heat anyway. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I do agree with Gasol, he has every right to call out for his team to make changes. I hate it when they feel that they are obligated to be on a contending team and demand a trade. The Gasol situation is way different from the Kobe situation.

Why not Lamar odom and some picks for next year for gasol? salaries match LOL since we have pau's bro... he might force this trade to happen
I don't understand how the 30 million dollar excuse isn't relevant. He demanded that from the Lakers, and we told him to screw off...he settled for less money in Miami, which made it pretty evident that he didn't even want to be in L.A.

This thread has gotten too far off the beaten path. We need to cut it down to Gasol-to-LA talks and only Gasol-to-LA talks. From now on, Mamba and the rest of the forum mods will delete any posts not addressing the topic at hand.
<div class="quote_poster">Voodoo Child Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">The Lakers just don't have the pieces to get Gasol unless they want to trade Kobe. It's that cut-and-dry; end of discussion. On a side note, that's not exactly a trade demand. He's been saying that kind of stuff since last January, and frankly, the Grizzlies have done a pretty good job of surrounding him with the right talent, so it's a moot point.</div> Lets Trade Kobe for Gasol... we'd have a huge froncourt to compete with Portland and Seattle and Phoenix and San Antonio... wow I just realized its that bad out here in the West... *ouch*

I agree that sometimes these threads sprial into petty arguements, but sometimes it works for the good as well.

Never did I say that Kobe needed to use that amount of force or that Duncan/Garnett were soft. I don't see what the big deal is, Mike Miller hit Kobe around the eyes, he should expect a somewhat physical retort. And LeBron has hit a few people (and I'm somewhat of a LeBron supporter btw). <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Fair enough, just don't use the $30 mil extension as an excuse for you not resigning him. </div> Why not? <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> They pay his insane contract. Trade him to Memphis for Gasol and Mike Miller, but a) Kobe won't accept a trade to Memphis and who knows if Memphis would even deal that when they already have a young core that they are trying to build to compete. So it's a moot point.

But I agree on this one the Lakers wouldnt trade him to a west coast team where we would face him four times this season I think chances are better with an eastern conference team if anything... During the draft Mitch Kupchak announced to Jim Gray that "no one is untouchable and that no GM can honestly say otherwise about their own players" so it gives me hope that he is looking to revamp the team because with the stuff they have now theres no chance we even make the playoffs next season.

Maybe if the Lakers threw in Crittenton and a future first rounder, then it'd balance out.
