He isn't a no defense player anymore. He has become pretty good at playing the passing lanes and has learned how to use his length to bother PG's.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>BEST CASE SCENARIO: Jerry Stackhouse with range.

MOST LIKELY: Ricky Davis.

hes better than all those players already...

He is not better than Stack in his prime

maybe not, but he'd be a 20ppg scorer right now if he got the minutes.

I'd love him to come off of our bench. He's only 21 he's got time to learn and he's instant offense off of the bench although he does have to work on his shot selection. I watched him play in High School he would just embarass anyone who tried to guard him. He's got crazy ups and has range. I think there a spot on the bench for him.

Stackhouse was way better in his prime.

The way he plays, seems similar to Ricky.

He is better than Darius, never said he wasnt.

With that said, I do think he has a great up-side, thats why there is a best case scenrio. However, it is only "BEST CASE", off-court incidents and conflicts seems to swarm him at times, in addition his shot selection is really similar to Ricky Davis when he was a cavalier.

Several players dont reach their full potential and although they are seen to have a great up-side they would always disapoint people.

I would like to see him have more minuites to prove himself.

And, he isnt a bad player. Never said tht. I like the kid.

i think your underestimating his ceiling though. IMO

best case: Michel Redd/Vince Carter (in one)

Worst Case: Ricky Davis

In the playoffs JR Smith averaged 32.5pts per 48min. in the regular season it was 30.75. The kid is 21 and hes going to be an all-star, no doubt about it. all he needs is more experience, a better coach, and more playing time.

I dont think anyone doubts hes talented. Rather his drive, and commitment to a team. Can he put his head down and listen to someone willing to help him? Thats my only problem with him.

attempt? attempt at what? better race relations?

don't comment on things you don't understand, just pass them over.

I think since last year, and his car accident, hes matured quite a bit. i think some people mistake his shot selection for Basketball IQ or maturity, but i think those are just his shots. I mean, hes shooting 46% from the floor and a deadly 40% from 3. more often then not, he makes the crazy shot he takes. As time goes on his shot selection will become more refined, along with the rest of his skills. JR=Future allstar

I agree he will be a star in the league. I dont know if that will happen in the Denver though. I mean VC shoots crazy shots as well, and yet his a very good player. I reall think the nets should persue him and also Josh Smith from ATL, they are both 2 future stars.

So you were honestly serious when you said that anyone that doesn't like Smith is a racist?

JR seems to me that is only looked at talent wise because people put his age next to it.

'Oh he's only 21' seems like a word we use on a lot of players these days.

Yup, it's because he's black.

Wow... never thought I'd see someone make a blanket statement about everyone being racist for simply not liking a player... ON A BASKETBALL FORUM!!! I would think the majority of racists don't like basketball in general.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Answer_AI03 @ Apr 29 2008, 06:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>you must not know what sarcasm is.</div>
He's not being sarcastic... I asked if he was honestly serious and he said yes. That's what I originally thought too, but his follow up to Cpaw made me wonder.

Well there aren't any Jewish players, so them Germans could go undetected and like basketball.

Lol at KC. This is funny.

As for JR Smith, I like what he can do, just he needs a good coach. He neds someone to sit his ass down and tell him he has the talent, he just needs to use it. Like the Raptors.

As for me, I just find it offensive that someone would suggest at the beginning of a thread that if you think such and such, "you're out of your goddamn mind".

A lot of hostility there. Perhaps a night of being walked around in a dog collar might help, but I doubt it.

J.R. Smith will be the most interesting free agent of the summer. He will demand a lot of money and then when he can't get it will stew and wind up unhappy no matter what.

I don't think he's worth the money or the trouble.

If you have a need and the right situation, then he can definitely help you.

For established teams only.

I've seen Dirk Nowitzki give Jordan Farmar the Nazi death stare.
