It gave me flash backs to Kiki's picks in 2002. Several players over Anderson (who I like) but I'll highlight Koufos and Batum. Especially because it was well known that Batum was desired by the Spurs, he could have been used by Rod as trade bait. CDR was a damn fine pick in the second.
signing kwame makes absolutely no sense, especially given the glut of big men we have. We should be looking to move/let go another big, not sign another big, especially one that has never been good and has attitude problems with his teammates. the rebuilding process has been exciting and i've been in support of all the recent moves, but signing kwame would make absolutely no sense. we should see if j.r. wants in, but if not, i think we're fine just going ahead with the roster we have. we have a lot of young players who i personally want to see get some court time this season and next season so they'll be a lot better in 2010, making our team competitive, and increasing our chances of landing bronbron

We've got a logjam at the guard spots currently with Harris and Carter, and if we're going to rebuild here, we should be getting our rookies some minutes. If they aren't moved before the trading deadline, then Bayless' whole rookie season would basically be a waste. So one of the two has to go. What realistic situation trading one of those two players (or both) puts them in the best possible spot for landing a premier free agent in 2010?
Guys relax. We have some good young talent now we are going to watch it develope right in front of our eyes.
I'm more interested in seeing our guys devleop, form good chemistry and individual play and friendships this season, than rather have them win. Winning would be a bonus. Brown would take that all away though.

That leaves the roster with Brook Lopez as the only "true" center, with Boone and/or Swift as the undersized backups (and probably among the more likely to be traded).

If Bayless were the pick he would get more minutes than Lopez is going to see. Antoine Wright was getting 25 minutes, Bayless would be seeing at least that because he would be able to play the 1 and 2. Why do you think Bayless' rookie season here would've been a waste? That makes no sense. He shouldn't of came in here expecting to start, and I don't think any logical fan would expect that either with or without Carter and Harris on the team.
I'm ok with a two year plan. No need to add crazy contracts in a bid for a first round loss. Believe me, that's not a situation any team wants to be in.
Not the end that's for sure. Only the beginning. That Kwame thing is good for a laugh... as long as they don't actually sign him. Better not be Kiki's next "fallen angel"? Everyone acts like we need to replace Jefferson with another 20+ppg scorer. I'm stoked to see the NJ Nets next year and not the VC and RJ show. You'll see a bunch of players score in the mid teens on any given night with just VC in the 20+ range. Dave D keeps lamenting their ability to put up 80 a night, does he not realize they added a bunch of players that can shoot? The key is getting these young guys to buy into playing tough defense and sacrificing their bodies.

That would be far more effective than what the Nets can put out on the floor right now.

Depends how good he turns out to be, I guess. I like the idea of taking Batum because the Spurs wanted him; it could have worked into a whole ****ing over the Spurs on draft night theme.
This team could be very good Swat and Boone step it up to where I expect Marcus and Devin work together VC becomes the old VC Our Rookies learn their roles and give it there all.
Hey i know evryone here including myself is down on Brown. But imagine if we can get him on a 2yr deal for real cheap and he actually becomes the high touted player he was supposed to be. That would be worth the risk.

Boone Stromile Sean Krstic Brook Yi ...I don't see Kwame being able to beat out any of those guys for minutes, so what's the point?
