Adam Silver says David Stern has the flu & will most likely not be at the bargaining table w/the union this afternoon.
NBA Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver says he can't talk specifically about negotiations, but "owners want to play."
Stern will participate in meeting, though, whether through speakerphone or blackberry or something. We don't know for sure how yet
For clarity, a "band" is not a rev split. It is a range. 49-51 band means players get minimum of 49% BRI, max of 51 depending on revenue...
HowardBeckNYT: Stern's absence should not be considered setback for talks. Silver is effectively lead negotiator anyway. Stern checking in via phone/email
Sheridan..... Is an 82-game NBA schedule still possible? NBA deputy boss Adam Silver says it's "unclear." He did not say "No."

Go Ducks! UO's record when Darron Thomas starts at QB is 17-2 (.895). Harrington was 25-3 (.893), Masoli 16-6 (.728), Dixon 18-7 (.720)
Details Of Amnesty Clause Still In Flux, Successful Compromise Expected The NBA is likely to include an amnesty clause into their new collective bargaining agreement. Teams will have approximately 75 percent of the money removed from their salary cap over the length of the deal and his new team will only have 25 percent of his annual salar moving forward. Players who are released under this clause will still receive the full amount of money they are owed. But sources say the biggest hurdle is how long teams will have to pay the player his remaining balance. The teams want the bought-out player to be paid over a longer period of time, while the union seeks the opposite. Sources believe this is an area where a compromise can be reached. The headline on ESPN was that Stern was homesick and left negotiations. Clicked the link, expecting to hear how Stern really missed his binky, only to find out he went home sick and was still texting Silver.
The guy responsible for hiring Kahn and the illegal Joe Smith contract is the most responsible of the group. Yep, kiss your season goodbye.
I find this curious, I would think the union would want over a longer period of time. This will allow an injured/underachieving (and thus probably older and past his prime) player to gain monetary compensation long past his playing days when he may be lacking other sources of high-income.
If this happens, do you think they dare use it on Brandon? I remember they couldn't use it fast enough on Derek Anderson last time!
They should name that clause after Rashard Lewis. I really like what I'm seeing! They're making progress instead of threats, via the media.
