Pitchers and catchers report for spring training today.

If I lived in Phoenix I might be happy about this. But only if I lived in Phoenix.

I'm thrilled!! Yes, I love baseball too. And, the Cubs are coming to Seattle this year...

My wife and kids live about 3 miles from Steinbrenner Stadium in Tampa. I can't wait till my boy is old enough for me to take him over there to pee in the outfield.

BTW, you know baseball's starting up for Mariners' fans when Felix's elbow is about to fall off as he signs a 175M contract

The contract hasn't been signed as far as I know. I love baseball, but the M's are a disaster. I'm usually depressed about the team by the time May rolls around.

He's leaving town. You can't put an offer like that on the table, and pull it out. It's something the Mariners should had thought of before. It's not like they are dealing with Mike Napoli. Someone will throw that contract at Felix when his current deal expires. If he signed it, and is hurt, he'd lose the money anyway. He's better off waiting now to get that contract from the Mariners or someone.

That's dream talk. He'll sign by the end of the week, and there'll be something in there like an opt-out for the M's after year 3 if his right elbow has caused him to miss 35 starts or something, and he'll have his money.

What do you mean "they should've thought of it before?" When they did the physical they got "red flags". Should they have said, "Well, crap. We can't renege on this now."

With 175M on the line, you can do whatever the hell you want. Or else end up like the Yankees and A-Fraud.

Frankly -- I don't know that they should invest that kind of money in Felix. He's a world class pitcher, but that's a lot of money to invest in one pitcher for a pretty crappy team. On the other hand, if you don't hold on to your team assets it probably does not excite many FA's to come to Seattle.

They probably know that they're going to have at least 3 cheap starters over the next 4 years, so the rotation costs is still below average.

Anyone planning on attending a Hillsboro Hops game this season?

SF Giants: 2 World Championships in 3 seasons. And yet, this is the first time they're mentioned in this thread?

Y'all don't know baseball.

Wow, you are way off base on that assessment. As a Cubs fan, this is the one time of the year we're tied for first and can have hope.

How is that way off-base? Aside from the Yank-Mes run from 1996-2000 and the BJ's back-to-back championships in 1992-1993, I don't believe any other team has won two WS in three seasons since the 1970's. There's a lot of parity in MLB, so two championships in three years is the bomb diggity.

Coming from a Cubs (and Blazers - I feel your pain on this) fan, I can see how you might be confused.

I love playing baseball, but find it very boring to watch for the most part. Not as bad if at a game, but to watch on tv very much just to boring.

No doubt the Giants have rocked...all I'm saying is that it should be surprised to see people chirping about other teams because this is the one time of year that everyone can have some hope. Go Cubs! We're in first place!!! Whoo hoo!

That said, beware of the woof gods, Giant fan. They have a way of changing things fast. Tim's haircut may also have PO'd the gods lol

Curious to see how Giants do. I cant say I have kept close tabs on them or anything, but have they added much this off-season?

Another sign that I'm getting old, I think the whole flat brim thing going on with baseball hats is ridiculous and that the look is dweebish.

giants baby!

they didnt really add any big names but im pretty pumped that andres torres is back

You don't go about announcing a deal before it's done. Especially one like this, due to it's length and dollars, and with a player like the King.

"There were "minor concessions" made because of the concern for his elbow, a source told Olney."

Opt out after 3 years is not a minor concession. He got his money, and prob if he is injured the money will be deffer to some extent.
