Yeah, when you said you weren't seeing it, I started to wonder if that was a 1 day offer. I wouldn't be surprised to see them drop it relatively soon. i'm sure it was just a way to get early adopters to buy one. Though at $35, I don't think people needed that much extra incentive.
KOR and PorkChop, PLEASE! PLEASE PLEASE! update us when/if you get one and how well it works for you.
Yeah, please do. I was just going to get an Apple TV to supplement my Roku, but if this thing works well i'll just get one of those.
yeah, I'll give an update once I get it. It isn't supposed to ship until the 7th, so it'll be a few weeks before I'll have anything. I read one early review and it said that the updated Netflix app worked a lot more seamlessly than using the Chrome extension. Not surprising i guess. I've also read that you need a decently good wifi connection. Not a problem for me at home, but my plan of taking it on the road to hotels might not be practical as most have spotty wifi. We'll see though, if I forget to post a review by the 15th, bump this thread to remind me.
So do you interpret that last bit to mean a solid connection, not necessarily your internet speed. IE if I am happy with my internet speed to stream on my computer, it should be the same with a solid wifi connection on the chromecast?
While you guys wait for this new AppleTV killer to show up.......I'm streaming an HD movie while I type FAMS!
Our concerns were spot-on: http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-57595585-93/google-disconnects-chromecasts-netflix-deal/ This won't make me not buy it but I will wait now until maybe around x-mas.
It says it is still out of stock but it is now letting you order again from Amazon so I went ahead and ordered. Who knows when I will get it though. Probably a couple weeks.
Keep an eye out on your delivery date. Mine was supposed to ship by August 7, but I got a shipping notice over the weekend and am supposed to get it by Saturday!
Did you really get it yet? If so then how do you like it? I don't get mine until around August 21st they are saying.
This appears to be the least expensive purchase option: http://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/devices/chromecast/#netflix
Actually Amazon.com is cheaper as they don't charge tax or shipping. They are sold out a lot though so you have to be patient if you want to save a couple dimes. And really we are talking like 4 bucks so it doesn't really matter much unless you are a real cheapo (like me sometimes).
Not following. I'm showing $63.99 @ Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Google-Chrome...TF8&qid=1375548995&sr=1-1&keywords=chromecast
I went ahead and purchased through Google. $38.99 total. I'll be using though my tablet. I'll plan to now subscribe to NetFlix. Thanks!
Hopefully, this will all work through my receiver, as well. I may have to do a bit of re-connecting....in light of my dvd player. I believe I only have one hdmi connection through the receiver...which currently goes to the dvd player. There "may" be an optical connection back there, though. I'm sure I'll figure it out.
