Dwight Howard says he'll guard Aldridge for "most of the game" tomorrow.

Correction. He'll TRY to guard aldridge. Sounds like a great game for aldridge to drills 3s while wes posts up harden and lopez cleans the offensive glass.

Man that'd be sweet. Lopez and Batum run the pick and roll... No wait the flops would foul out Lopez. Wes posting up... No wait the flops will foul out Wes. Lillard on the drive. Nope, flops in the key will foul out Lillard.

It's going to suck. The rockets will adjust by flopping more.

I wonder if they'll start Asik instead of Jones, and put him on Lopez.

The goal won't be to effectively guard LA, but rather to get him into foul trouble.

In other words Howard will be elbowing Aldridge in the ribs and stomach all game.

With offensive fouls? There's no reason Aldridge would have to take Howard on the other side of the floor...

The Blazers should be ecstatic about this idea...

The only way to stop Wes in the post when guarded by Harden is for Dwight to come help side defense and intimidate the shot. If he wants to guard LaMarcus 15-18 feet away from the basket that totally clears out the lane for both Dame and Wes. If Dwight doesn't come out in an effort to guard the rim, Aldridge has a big game with his strength, the medium range jumpshot.

If I was Stotts, I'd be begging for Houston to give that a try!

A voice from the dead!

Aldridge is quicker than Howard, could be interesting....

LA should go right at Howard early and get him in foul trouble.

Aldridge should take it to him. Elbow him in the chest under the basket, run out to 18 feet, catch and shoot. Lillard can rebound.

This would be great because it will allow LA to bring Dwight out of the lain and create driving lanes for all our guards/wings. Its going to mean LA is going to need to pass the ball and not shoot 20 times this game but he should be okay with that.

This. My distaste for LMA's jump-shooting game is well known, but if Howard is guarding him then I want LMA to take one step back and shoot the 3, or pass into Wes in the post.
Pick/pop, Dame doubled passes to LMA, Wes cuts to low block and LMA either sticks the 3 or quickly dumps to Wes for a lay-up.

By driving into him and flopping like a fish. The Howard guarding Aldridge part is to beat the shit out of him.

Howard will flop the minute LA puts his back to him.
Yeah, because that big brutus LaMarcus is so much stronger and more powerful than Dwight Howard. LaMarcus will be knocking Howard back five feet, like he's made of cardboard. And the refs will buy it.

That's adorable. You haven't yet read the script for this series? Any contact between LA and Howard will be whistled on LaMarcus. It's already been decided.

Well this keeps LA outside way more than he was...no rolling to the middle if they do put Asik in as well on Lopez. I dont see Dwight banging LA out there and should give up some wide open shots (3 or otherwise). It will be Robin on Dwight on the defensive end and that's where the elbows will happen. LA can guard Asik he's not much of a threat. If our outside shooting game is on then I expect we walk away with another win. Dwight on LA = win if he's hitting shots, and if doubles come (I expect a LOT of doubles with Bev or Jones or Parson coming over to help, we need to rotate FAST and hit either Dame or Wes for Tre or a cutting Nic to the hoop for a throwdown.

Basically, Houston wants to stop Aldridge's low post game and rebounding. They want to force him to take the 'inefficient' mid range shot. Some of the posters here should agree with that strategy.

That would be the smart way to defend us. Luckily McHale doesn't appear to be too smart.
But if Howard is on LMA that just means other guys are going to have to score in the paint and LMA is going to have to stick some 3s.

I think Aldridge will shoot 3s more. So he will actually advance FG% of a high 50%

I'd like to see Aldridge take it right to Dwights chin and get some fouls on him.

Aldridge looked better defending howard than lopez did in game 1. I think they are tryi g to tame an untameable beast. We just need to exploit their shitty defense I.e. if howard on aldridge take some 3s. And continue to post up and cut behind harden, because he just plain fucking sucks.
