It would be cool if they sold sleeved versions for us fat pasty guys with girly arms. But they just look silly on the players.

If they do the nickname thing I'm gonna be pissed.
 
Gawd I hate sleeves on a Jerseys. If anything make team-sanctioned arm/elbow padded gear that match the team uniforms. This is simply a way to try and sell more shirts. Ugh.
 
The change is being dictated by the NBA, so even if the teams protested (and some surely did), the decision was likely to be the same. Some have opined that the sleeves are the logical destination for advertisements, if and when the league decides to swim in that revenue stream, which might be one of the reasons for the insistence on sleeves.

I'll never buy a jersey with sleeves. Terrible idea.

sleeve jerseys are so damned ugly. Sucks they ruin our cool alternate with it, because now I never want to see the rip city jerseys worn.
I like how they defend them by saying fans will buy them to wear more often, because people don't want to wear tank tops, yet you see thousands of fans a every game with normal jerseys on. We've just all figured out that you can put a tshirt underneath it so it isn't simply a tank top.

Repped and Brilliant! I vote that Portland try to sneak it by the league and simply wear a white T-shirt under the regular jersey.

Seriously though, with enough major players complaining about these shirts last season I gotta wonder: Do they purposefully practice in them? I mean, its gotta make a slight impact to your stroke of the ball

Honestly it will be the ads that will make the jerseys cool years later. Image a sleeved jersey from the 90s with ads for AOL, Windows 95 and New Coke on it. El Prez would go nuts for that.
 
Okay, who wants to track shooting percent of players/teams vs jersey/t-shirt?
 
I think the red alts would look cool with sleeves, but that would also mean ruining our best jerseys.
 
I know a lot of people like the Rip City jersey, but I always hated it. Glad they just made something bad worse, rather than muck up a Blazers jersey.
 
Make it loose fitting and lose the numbers, and it's a decent looking tee-shirt.
 
It's pretty obvious the NBA is going for a soccer jersey type presentation for the people who don't like wearing tank tops out in public.

Wearing a tank top to the game? Cool.

Wearing the tank top around town? Some people aren't really comfortable. I had a ton of jerseys when I was a kid growing up, but I haven't worn one in over ten years.

I think they're trying to give the fans something they can wear that isn't quite so flimsy as a regular t-shirt.

I understand why the players hate them, but I don't think it's for the players.

The fans hate them because the fans hate change. Mostly I think they're doing it so they can put ads on the jersey, and provide something that fans will (in their opinion) wear in public.
