NBA player Greg Oden was arrested in Lawrence, Ind. this morning after allegedly punching a woman.

The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 7200 block of Maple Bluff Place, according to a Lawrence Police Department report.

Officers arrived at the home to find the victim crying and lying across a bed holding her face, police said. A woman described as the victim's best friend first told officers what happened, police said.

"He punched her in the face," the witness said, according to the report.

I imagine his NBA career is now over, that this is the capstone to his fall from grace. At the very least, it sounds from the report like he's willing to accept his punishment. We'll see how long that lasts once a lawyer is involved though.
 
I always want to root for Greg but sometimes he makes it so damn hard to do it.
 
This was all over the news in Indy this morn. WTF, man. Get your life together.
 
It's unbelievable that this guy was the #1 pick and expected to be the next superstar center. Now look at him. Dude needs to man up. It's weird saying this, but he just kind of seems pathetic now.

Now any smidgen of guilt I had for wishing him more injury and saying "fuck greg Oden" is gone. I wonder if that woman said some extremely inciteful things...Greg never seemed like that bad a guy.
 
Oden told police he dated the victim for approximately two years but broke up approximately two months ago, according to the report.
 
I am guessing alcohol was involved along with a bunch of mental issues he needs to deal with. Sounds like he is accepting responsibility.
 
He needs to do jail time. He really bloodied her up! What a piece of shit.
 
He said he wanted to be a dentist, maybe he was just trying to straighten her teeth.

I've been drunk a few times. I said stupid things. I ended up in bed with people whom I should never have looked at, but was still aware enough for it to be consensual. I never beat anyone up.

Alcohol is an excuse, not a reason.

I agree with Zyobt; he does seem pathetic. Someone who was supposed to be a huge star and can't get a job in the NBA. Never trained for anything else. He's still young, healthy except bad knees, and unless he's a dreadful financial manager, rich. He could do what Sam Bowie did, pick up his life and be thankful for what he has. He's not a kid any more.

I hope the woman recovers, physically and mentally. I hope that jail time is a wake up call for Oden.
 
Damn dude. Not cool, Oden. Not cool at all.

No more NBA career for him, though there wasn't much left.

Nobody said it was an excuse or a reason. We said alcohol was probably involved. Nobody is making excuses for him.
 
its not his fault, he got a rage boner and it sapped all the blood from his brain
