http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2015/5/16/8615971/cavaliers-guard-calls-out-reporter-for-snitching Tsk Tsk, Chris! Come on now!
Lol I swear, Portland does things to people... I hope Jabari Young (not Parker) doesn't turn into the next Portland media asshole.
Not to be out of line and disrespectful. But I have always wondered how he got a similar job working with CSNNW here in Portland. He always seemed flaky. I just assumed he had contacts.
The Portland school of sports journalism doesn't translate to the rest of the country. He needs to unlearn every backbiting skill his editors taught him here. The Portland school of informer reporting emphasizes trivia heard in the locker room.
Alot of baloney press was coming out of Cleveland early when they were struggling. Betting Haynes was behind most of it. He was too buddy buddy with Jaynes for me to be ever taken seriously.
It's kind of a fine line in a situation like that... where you've been allowed access somewhere that the public isn't, but you're in there as a representative of the media, whose job it is to report back to the public. On the other hand, since Haynes' future stories are going to depend a lot on relationships with players, he has to be careful. Alienating Shumpert (and potentially LeBron James, whom Shumpert was talking to) is a big risk for what seems like a relatively small story. I've heard stories of reporters hearing something said between attorneys in an elevator, putting that in a story, and the reporter suddenly finds all access to future courtroom stories evaporating due to the attorney's reaction. Who knows - the reporter may actually be within the bounds of propriety (I don't know what the media's rules are, once they're allowed inside the Cavs' locker room), but given the reaction here, it either wasn't clear to the players, or to Haynes - or it needs clarifying. In the absence of clarity (maybe), Haynes ran with the story, and didn't do any relationship-protection with the players involved (at least not with Shumpert - maybe he told LeBron, but I doubt it). Maybe Haynes thought this story was important enough to risk the downside. I wonder if he still thinks that.
Any respect I had for Haynes as a journalist went out the window when he became a moth piece for Khan during that wierd week and a half Khan tried to bluff portland into a S&T for Batum.
Chris Haynes was solid during his Portland days. He never did anything or said shady shit like Quick and Clownzano. In fact Lillard respected him so much so he would invite him to his house for family functions. Haynes I remember during the 2012 draft made a point of emphasis that Blazers really should draft Lillard and the rest is history. He did good work to me I would love to hear instances why others thinks he's not..
I laughed when Haynes went to Cleveland..he almost gets to cover Lebron James through a crowd but still has to live and work in Cleveland! Welcome to the Rust Belt Chris Haynes...this may be your only chance to escape!
Still baffled at how this dumbass got a job in that market. He's a terrible writer, and even worse journalist.
