So we could potentially do two 7-9 year vet max deals?

See I disagree. Hibbert is a game changer in the paint. Just like Jordan, their protection can completely force teams out of their comfort zone. Gas had a real tough time when Jordan was in the game. Just because we play GS doesn't mean we can't play hibbert

Yep. Of course Aldridge may (hopefully) be one of those.

You can trade the draft pick on draft day.

The knock on him though is he gets tired in a fast pace game. As is true with most huge centers. But the league is very diverse and in the playoffs we need to be able to match up against different styles. Big difference between GS and Memphis. I agree he is a game changer on the defensive end in the paint and we need that.

Given the players he's rumored to like, I dread finding out. This is starting to remind me of the Patterson era.

I think they sign someone like Aminu at SF and spend the rest on big FA's/re-signings. Aminu is a defensive terror although he can't shoot a bit. Shouldn't cost too much though.

Yep, I called Blakey and Kaman on another board last summer before it happened, I'm calling DeAndre and Aminu this year.

Nope. My $41.6M Cap space number only counts the $1M guaranteed to Kaman, plus the $500k 12-man roster Cap hold if he is waved. $41.6M is the max the Blazers could get to at this moment. (I edited the above post to make it a bit more clear.)

So, cap nerds, what is the max LA will be offered, and what would we have left after that?

Interesting. As it stands right now, the Blazers would have to renounce the rights to their MLE ($5,464,000) to get to that $41.6M number. My guess is that Olshey will try to hold onto that chip. A potential scenario:
    - Sign LaMarcus, $20,130,000
    - Sign Monroe, $16,775,000
    - Keep the MLE $5,464,000

That puts the Blazers about $1M over the available space. It just so happens that the #23 draft choice has a $1.1M CAP hold. If the Blazers traded it away for second rounders or future picks, it would allow them to keep the MLE.

Max Aldridge can get is $20,130,000. That would leave the Blazers with $22,013,546 of CAP space (The math gets a bit messy because if the team is under the minimum roster size, a minimum CAP hold is put in place to bring the roster to 12. By signing Aldridge, one of those holds is removed.) But to get there, they would have to renounce everyone not already on a guaranteed contract, including the MLE. The rest of the roster would have to be filled out with rookies or vet minimum salaries.

So if we sign another star, we'd be Miami light? That sounds solid to me
