All good valid points which in the end means win, win...after losing 4 starters I've cheered for for years, I'm just starting to get invested in this roster..as usual, somebody I like will probably get traded. Won't shock me at all.

Sure he doesn't. But he's a smart guy, he knows the score. You think that if Neil went to him and said, "Gerald, Chicago wants you for their playoff run, so I have to do what's best for the team and trade you; please remember how much you enjoyed your time here when I call you with a contract offer 5 months from now," that he would take it as a personal insult of some kind? Moreover, if Neil comes in with the highest offer next summer, you think that Hendo will say, "Screw you and your millions; you traded me!", or that he'll choose to take less to stay here this summer if we choose not to trade him?

I don't see any of those as reasonable responses from a reasonable man.

Technically OB I didn't say he couldn't score. I said ......."One of them needs to be able to shoot a little better"

My point is we do not have room for both when we have guys like Crabbe who can play minutes at the SF spot. (and right now even Henderson)

I disagree that we can trade him and be just as likely to sign him this summer. If we want to resign him better to keep him here. Players don't want to be traded away from a team. No it isn't the be all end all, yes a player can resign with an old team in some situations, but in general it doesn't happen very often and for a reason. Its the human element.

Think if your employer eliminated your job and reassigned you to a different location? If your old job opens back up and they want to hire you yeah you'll think about it but it will give you much more caution than if you'd been employed the whole time.

Players care about that stuff; if you offer the most money sure they might take that job but if they have a bunch of similar offers they are much more likely to look elsewhere first.

That said I earlier posted we should trade Gerald for even a decent second round pick so I don't value him that highly with where our team is going.

I haven't kept up on McGary this year but this is they type of trade I'd be very interested in.

Aminu is way better than Hark at this point and I would be mad if we moved AMinu but not HArk.

    If I were King....

I always look to strengthen my top 8 players. Henderson is just outside that rotation IMO. He's obviously now fully healed and looking like he is again trusting his injured hip. He's playing at a very high level compared to his career. And he's pretty good.

Problem is....he's not as good as CJ or Crabbe. So, he's trade bait to me. I would use him, if possible, to get another position of need. For me, I really like our starters, Lillard, McCollum, Plumlee, Aminu and Vonleh. I also really like Crabbe, Davis and Leonard.

I am hoping that Olshey is looking at getting Harrison Barnes, Terrence Jones, and Steve Blake in Red & Black next year. Of course, once Durant politely says no to our offer!!

    The answer is below. :)

I personally think its a bad idea and poor morale boost. Why would he want to come back to now be concerned it will happen again?

If we can flip him for a defensive big man or a draft pick we should do it. We really need to pull a Denver on a playoff team looking for bench help. Hendo could be our reverse Afflalo.

This site does not look correct to me. They are using the qualifying offers as the CAP hold for Leonard and Harkless. That is incorrect. It should be 250% of previous years salary, based on http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q38.

Here's my estimate for our available CAP space for next summer: http://www.sportstwo.com/posts/3683069/. My calculations line up with BasketballInsiders.com.
If we waive Henderson and Kaman, we'll have about $23M of CAP space.
If we waive Henderson, Kaman and Harkless, we'll have about $30M of CAP space.

The estimated Max contracts will be:
0-6 yr NBA vet, 25% of CAP, $20,860,964
7-9 yr NBA vet, 30% of CAP, $25,033,157
10+ yr NBA vet, 35% of CAP, $29,205,350

Thanks. I wasn't checking their figures, but I should have known those numbers were wrong. Which means, even less reason to keep Henderson.

I think Henderson serves us best by being packaged w/ some other asset. If "Vonleh will be all we have to show for Nic then," I've np w/ this:ygrin:

Did Gerald Henderson marry a woman from Portland also?

An anomaly and I think he was traded to us twice so no say in the matter right? He didn't sign as a free agent... though I could be wrong?
