It's pretty obvious portland isn't signing any free agents, not even a vet minimum guy. No one out there that'd make it worthwhile financially. Either we make a trade or two or we're going into next season with the current 15.

Pretty sure we are staying put, unless that rumored three team deal happens but I don't even think that's real.

When was the last time a team didn't make a single move during free agency?

And then what would you have done to address the center position, prior to figuring out free agents? Since we still would've had Plumlee.

Would've had to move quickly on Gay/Evans / then either resign Mason or sign a starting C - which isn't exactly cheap. We also lose out on our possible star.

Unless you truly think Olshey was planning on trading our only competent player at center for a benched backup C and first rounder going into the season and I believe he said at his presser he still was hesitant to do it except for the pick..

Otherwise if we know about Nurk and don't worry about RFA offer to Plum this year, yeah, probably could've spent the money a little more wisely building for now rather than later. But acquiring Nurk moved us further along our progression than many believe, imo.
Plumlee hasn't signed anything yet so it would've been possible. But I would've done that Nurk deal in any situation if I were GM. I was high on him ever since he beasted Plumlee in the Denver game where Dame hit the game winner.

I suppose it depends on what you define a "move" as. If you mean a move that makes a difference as far as improving the team goes, then plenty of teams fail to do that every year.

If you mean it literally, then I'm not sure. Even the lowly Blazers traded Tim Quarterman for cash considerations this year.

I guess you'll have to do some more research.

Quarterman would've been cut so he doesn't count. I mean literally.

Classy move by the Jazz and their owners:

I have a great idea let's put a huge amount of thought energy and stress into bitching about last year and comparing contracts from last summer to this summer when the dynamics of each and every FA period are completely different, last summer to this summer even more exaggerated.

You can get your juice box and participation trophy after the summer.

Hawks were initially rumored to match but now looking like they won't. They are probably going for KCP instead.

I want that juice box on a minimum deal, and that participation trophy on a 3/30 million dollar contract with a team option on the last year. FUCK.

Does this make any sense for Cleveland? Anthony doesn't space the floor as well as Love, is a much worse rebounder and is probably also a worse defender at this point in his career. Is it just so he can play mini-LeBron for the 5MPG James hits the bench during the playoffs?

I hope that trade goes through, the last thing I want on the team is another defensive sieve.

Does Kevin Love make sense in Phoenix? What about Chriss and Bender? ONE of them should go to NY.

If this goes through, I think we have to worry about both Phoenix and Sacto nipping at our heels.
