Rumor Report: Owner Paul Allen investigating whether Trail Blazers’ problem is roster or coaching

The lieutenants who work at owner Paul Allen’s Vulcan, Inc. mothership have been analyzing data and asking important questions. Two NBA front-office sources said they were contacted in the last 10 days by the Vulcans and asked whether they thought Trail Blazers struggles were due to a broken roster or poor coaching.

“Paul is getting antsy,” one of the league sources said, “he thinks they should be winning more.”

I am glad we have an active owner who isn't satisfied with mediocrity and has taken an interest in his team's sucess . This team definitely has some issues that need to be resolved if we don't want to be stuck in basketball limbo. I personally think we might have a new coach in 2018. We also have some clear roster issues. This team as it stands is a 8th swept in first round team, just like last year.

Lol. We.

The article ridicules Allen for thinking the same as we all do. "Antsy." The writer, Dan Feldman, says that Stotts and Olshey have done "fine" jobs. The writer says that Allen has a quick trigger for firing GMs, but that's not what the local media said when they campaigned for years to fire Whitsitt, and put the team into permanent mediocrity.

The local media has a very low BBIQ.

Ironic since Portland is usually very medioce.

If Neil doesn’t make something happen before the trade deadline then he should be let go. The contracts to Meyers and ET are two of the worst in the league and other than CJ we don’t have enough desirable assets on the team to make any real splash. I’m not a huge Stotts fan but this roster is so fucked.

I know everybody gives stotts shit and yeah he does dumb shit sometimes but it’s honestly the talent. Just not enough of it outside of dame and cj, nurks not doing great. Only role players doing consistently well this season are Davis and aminu. Every other player is inconsistent or they just don’t show up. So you either trade cj and get some players who can play in return or try and make trades, get some actual players on the team around dame and cj

Hell yea ! I love Paul Allen. Clean this garbage up. I’m glad Allen is thinking along my lines and ready to blow this shit up because clearly it ain’t working

Shouldn't he, like, be thinking about those things, like, every day?

How is this a story?

Canzano is funny how he runs with this Vulcan thing. Does Vulcan exist? Sure. Is it some super secret group like the Illuminati? No.

Its probably just a team of advisers/friends of Paul's.
He always makes it sound like it’s some secret society super power. I mean Allen has the money but for fucks sake have you seen the guy? He wears the same shit everywhere and that outfit total probably costs 50 dollars and Allen is worth 20 billion.

My first thought after reading the article was.... "Shit. We should have had a pool on the timing of this event. I would have won some money. Or at least the ability to say "I WAS RIGHT!".... for a few weeks.

I’d settle for fans who realize that the CBA isn’t the same today as it was 20 years ago.

In other words, you'll settle for the permanent mediocrity we've had since Whitsitt left. No surprise, since you're always afraid of change.

Whitsitt would excel in today's CBA, just as he did then. He was a brilliant GM who could get something out of nothing, and was destroyed by Oregonian peanut-brain moralists.

But...Currently, if we can only fire one or the other, we would gain more by replacing Stotts than Olshey. Stotts is farther below average than Olshey is below average.

Lmao. You're hysterical. "Paul is thinking like me everybody! Go me!"

Who says he's ready to blow it up? Where'd you read that?

Neil chose a flawed path, handed out some stupid deals to really mediocre (and worse) talent, and here we are. Is Stott's part of the problem? Yeah, probably a little bit, in that I'm not sure he's great at getting the most out of his bigs, but it's tough to make a decent omlette when all you've got are some eggs and some moldy cheese.
