The attorney for Milwaukee Bucks rookie Sterling Brown said the guard plans to file a lawsuit against the Milwaukee Police Department after officers used a stun gun on him -- without provocation, according to a report -- during an arrest in January.

Plans for the lawsuit were announced as body-camera footage of the Jan. 26 incident was scheduled to be released Wednesday, attorney Mark Thomsen told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Tuesday.

Police officers used a stun gun on Brown and arrested the then-22-year-old guard during questioning over a parking violation in a Walgreens parking lot at about 2 a.m. on Jan. 26.

On Monday, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said he has seen the video and was concerned about public backlash over the officers' conduct. He said Police Chief Alfonso Morales also had a similar reaction.

"I'm going to let the release of that speak for itself, but yes, I definitely have concerns after watching that video," Barrett told reporters Monday.

Sources who have seen the body-camera footage told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that Brown was not at all combative before officers used the stun gun.

"This could be bad," a source told the Journal Sentinel of the video. "The player doesn't appear to be provocative at all."

Police have shown the footage to some local officials, including a closed session of a Common Council committee.

The officers involved in the incident are the subject of an internal investigation. Brown was not charged after his arrest for resisting or obstructing an officer.

"There's going to be a video that's going to come out soon, in the next couple of weeks, involving the department," Assistant Police Chief Michael Brunson Sr. told a church congregation on Sunday, according to WITI-TV. "And I'm going to be honest with you, we're going to need your support during the challenges."

The Bucks signed the 6-foot-6 guard from SMU last summer in a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, who selected him in the second round of the 2017 draft. He averaged 4.0 points and 2.6 rebounds this season.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

I'd have no problem if this was something the Portland Police did. Taze the Bucks, Celtics, Cavs, screw it, taze anyone on an NBA team except the Blazers.

Sure, but anyone but this guy. You don't want the whole of Wakanda coming down on Portland for tazing the king's brother.

Is there a video?

Welp.. Looks like Sterling Brown has had his N-Word with the er moment.

Doesn't matter how much money you have or what status you've made it to, you can still be a victim of police brutality...

All we need to do is make sure Wes Matthews, AKA Iron Man, is back on the team.

Iron Man > Black Panther.

Iron Man > Black Panther.

Not really sure how/why Wakanda was even brought up tbh... :smiley-glupan:

Buuuuuuut..... None of Iron Man's attacks would hurt BP. Among many other powers, his suit absorbs all kinetic energy . Plus he would whoop Iron man's ASS physically.

Black Panther > Iron Man

Im sure Iron man can devise some weapons not using Kinetic energy

Dude's name is Sterling Brown. The actor who played N'Jobu, Killmonger's dad, is Sterling K. Brown. I thought the connection was obvious. :dunno:
Not to me (although I guessed it must be something like that). Thanks for the clarification.

If it turns out these guys were abusing their power, and using their power to abuse random citizens, the sooner they are off of patrolling the streets, the better off we'll all be. Need to continue to thin the herd of the bad seeds. I've had a few run-ins with dick head abusive cops in my day (never tazed, thank god). Guys like that give all cops a bad rep.

Good for him. I wanna see the video.

Actually, I don't want to see a video of an innocent, non-combative man being tazed, but I'm glad the video exists. It will insure the assholes responsible are held accountable.

I mean how fucking arrogant are these assholes? The video was shot with a body cam and I'm guessing it wasn't Brown wearing the camera. That means one of these assholes filmed himself doing this, and it didn't stop him from assaulting an innocent man. On top of being a total piece of shit as a human being, he's also either dumb as shit, or super arrogant to think he'd get away with it. Most likely, both.

This is where we differ.

I don't want to see it either but, as hard as it is, I force myself watch things like this. I show my son these things without sugar coating to have a constant reminder of what could happen to us simply because we're black.

Does this mean (in increasing order)

1. relieved of street duty and given a 2-week suspension (paid vacation)?

2. fired and hired by the adjacent police district?

3. tried by a grand jury (only the D.A. presents evidence, so the outcome is what he wants, but the D.A. gets cover by forming a grand jury [secret, with no audience allowed])?

4. brought to trial, a top defense lawyer funded by the police union (which inserts an infiltrator into the jury, as they did in the Oregon case a year ago), found not guilty, and rehired by his police force?

5. brought to trial, found guilty, and given a sentence a tenth as long as you or I would get?

I get the feeling the tide is turning and the administration will take some kind of swift punitive action. I think the days of Option 1 are over, at least in this case. Option 2 is the only one I'm sure of. Some red neck jurisdiction that can't attract decent applicants will hire them.

6. Made a mod on SportsTwo!

When something happens in South Central Las Angeles, nothing happens...

Racism has got to stop if we want to live peacefully. We see it prevalently in situations regarding law enforcement.

NWA will reign again some day, sort of like how GotG has seemingly resurrected 70s rock... Only, it was never dead baby!
