Yeah there were signs of issues in Orlando too, but he was so athletically gifted it was overlooked. I think he rose to stardom too fast and too young. He was great in Orlando, but maybe not as great as he thought?

Dwight can be a beast but maybe not that valuable in the current iteration of the NBA? Don't recall his contract but my last impression was that his contract is bigger than he is.

Good deal for Charlotte who move further away from the luxury tax. Mozgov is worse than Howard but I doubt they care, they are garbage anyway.

Good for Nets too as they create cap space for 2020.

They won't bother, they'll keep the cap space for next year. Crabbe will be their only big contract remaining then. Lin, Carroll, Howard all expire in 2019.
So, with the Nets out of the picture, do you think anyone will make a big offer to Nurk?

I have a feeling neil is going to trade the 24th in a package for a veteran and a 2nd rnder

The only teams that could pay Nurkic more than we are willing to match are:

Atlanta
Indiana
Lakers

That is the whole list that can offer more than 18 MIL a year. And if you want to go lower and aren't comfortable with 18 then it only adds one more team. Dallas.

Atl is rebuilding. Nurkic is young but doubt they have interest in a big contract when they aren't ready to win yet.

Indy has Myles Turner already who is good.

Lakers want bigger names.

Nurkic isn't going anywhere.

It's almost like we facilitated this trade by loaning out players (Batum and Crabbe) on contracts so bad, it would screw up all future transactions for those teams.

Batum deal will cripple Charlotte for years. Crabbe deal won’t hurt Nets because they have tons of cap space anyway. In their situation it makes sense to take a punt on players like that because they aren’t in position to attract any half decent big contract player until 2021 or so.

They threw a max deal at Porter last year too and might throw a max at Gordon or Parker this year though I doubt it because they finally have the opportunity to tank.

trade the pick for future considerations and somehow extend meyers again, already.

put us out of our misery.

When some here hold up Morey as the Perfect Paragon of a GM, I hold my Proboscis.
