Alright, here is the much anticipated rematch of our 1st round playoff series from last season.

As we all know, the Pelicans unceremoniously swept the Blazers, but this isn't really the same New Orleans team. The notable changes are that they lost Boogie Cousins and Rajon Rondo in free agency, while adding Julius Randle, Elfrid Payton and Jahlil Okafor.

Anyway you slice it, this is a must win for the Blazers. This game will be nationally televised, so we have to beat the Pelicans to save face and avenge the playoffs sweep.

That is a TOUGH poll question. I think you look at team success and go well the Blazers have had more. However, AD’s injury woes have a lot to do with how few times he’s made the playoffs in his career. Picking up Mirotic after cousins went down was a great get for Demps.
I think Id lean towards NO...

When you get swept in the play-offs despite HCA, the only appropriate response is to shut up and be humble. Praise NO every chance you get. Then, if the Blazers actually beat them (doubtful), you can really feel good about it.

If you bad mouth the Pelicans and make excuses - it means a victory over them doesn't mean anything, and defeat is an humiliation.

Thanks Sun Tzu.

I'm gonna be working during this game. Which may be a good thing, because this game would bring about some anxiety if it's close at all lol.

They are much better now personnel wise I think. Payton is better than Rondo right now, Randle is a great addition. Okafor, just no.

Rondo was a coach on and off the floor. He watched film and called out our plays when on defense. They will miss him. It was Rondo who almost orchestrated a sweep of the #1 seed Celtics in 2017 before getting hurt. When I went to the playoff games in New Orleans this past Spring, the people around me hated Gentry and said that they considered Rondo was the coach. I doubt Payton is contributing at that level.

I think we get our little bit of revenge. I'm interested in how Zach matches up with Davis when they're assigned to each other.

Forget last years exit. This season and this time is the moment to paste them to the floor. AD is the one player I hope plays average.
I will be at the game. Section 226....they gonna hear me for sure. I may get escorted out.

That's some fortune cookie shit right there bruh.

If we lose this game, we will NEVER hear the end of it.

Not that it means anything. Remember: we beat New Orleans IN New Orleans during the regular season last year. And we all know what happened in the playoffs.

I think Davis is going to have his way with our Bigs. Nurk is way too slow to guard him, and Collins is a twig compared to him. Dame needs to have a big game to even that out, and our Bench needs to step up.

But I think Holiday is going to have Dame's number in this game. So all of this means that our Bench needs to score. Big time.

If our Bench has an off-night, then we lose. Period.

They will probably go with same strategy they did in the playoffs try to trap Dame up top. You might see Stotts go with Curry or Nik or Turner with CJ and Dame a lot this game. If Aminu continue to shot like he is you might see Zach and Nurk for the first time together.
