Law enforcement officers and rescue crews responded late Wednesday to a report of a shooting at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks.
At least four ambulances were called to the scene to treat multiple victims.
The bar is at 99 Rolling Oaks Drive.
The initial report indicated that a man had opened fire with a semi-automatic gun at about 11:20 p.m.
Officers on the scene indicated that approximately 30 shots had been fired and that victims would be at multiple locations as they fled.
The Ventura County Sheriff's Office and California Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
The suspect initially was reported to be inside the bar. Officers were advised that the suspect was a Middle Eastern man in his early 20s wearing all black clothing and with a beard.
As officers were responding, there were additional reports of gunfire.
Officers at the scene indicated that victims were running to a nearby gas station to get medical help.
Officers were escorting large groups of people to safety as they left the area.
Roadways were being blocked in the area.
Meanwhile, at 11:46 p.m., multiple people were reported as covered in blood at the Tipsy Goat, another bar in Thousand Oaks. The Tipsy Goat is at 159 Thousand Oaks Blvd., quite a distance from the Borderline. It was unclear how or whether the incidents were related.

Suffered from ptsd.
Is that being reported?
Wow. What's the odds?
Shooter served in the marine corps. Suffered from ptsd. Used a gun bought legally and used an extended clip acquired illegally.
The sheriff during the latest press conference stated officers were dispatched to his house in April because he was expericing mental health issues. That he was in the marine corps and it is thought he suffered from PTSD.
Lots of assumptions there.
California bar shooter Ian David Long was a “weird” loner who practiced dance moves alone in his garage — and at least once before had visited the bar he shot up, his former roommate told The Post on Thursday.
Blake Winnett awoke to the news that his ex-roomie was the madman who gunned down 12 people inside Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks late Wednesday.
“I think I’ve actually gone there with him one time,” Winnett said.
The two men lived together twice before, around 2012 and 2014, in Simi Valley and Reseda, a neighborhood in Los Angeles.
“He was kind of weird. He always locked himself in his room, he was always by himself,” recalled Winnett, 35. “I didn’t really know him very well.”
Another "weird loner". Shocker.
We really need to ID these weird loner types and put them on a list.
Yep. How hard can it be for the FBI to ask Denny for a S2 membership list? They should have done that long ago.

We don't have enough extended clips floating around out there. Who's with me in recommending more of them?Shooter served in the marine corps. Suffered from ptsd. Used a gun bought legally and used an extended clip acquired illegally.
Can't have the FBI working on it.Yep. How hard can it be for the FBI to ask Denny for a S2 membership list? They should have done that long ago.
