Just Figured some of you might like to see some of the work on Providence Park / Jeld Wen/ PGE/ Civic Stadium
Going along very well and on schedule with no injuries. The Big Rocks are all in (Precast Seating) and it's time to start the Canopy Iron.

@CupWizier might be interested in this?

Nice pictures and thanks for the update. It's going to be pretty spectacular and definitely change the landscape of an old stadium I played several games in. Just make sure there are no delays as the Timbers are playing their first 12 games of the season on the road and won't play at home till June 1st.

The two of us had a conversation about this a year or so ago. Just thought you might want to see it happening. It's on schedule but the hard part is just starting. They put in the end beds for this side about 4 years ago and as with all things there has been some settling. The footings have settled and there are a few issues with fabrication. I'm sure this will take some overtime before it's all said and done. I got to get the stadium going in Eugene pretty quick. Looking like April so the big stuff better be done by then.

Is there a home field advantage in Kickball? :pokecrap:

Funny you mention kickball. Two of my kids were avid kickball players as it has had a huge resurgence in the northwest and they traveled to Seattle every year for a big tournament. Both were excellent soccer players so they definitely had the advantage of being able to kick the ball plus they were athletic. It was coed and my daughter was one of the better kickers on her team including the guys.

As for the stadium and home field, yes, it's a big advantage especially with the crowds we get at home. Last year they had to play the first 5 games on the road and didn't win a game but got some ties . It definitely put them in a hole to start the season and with a 12 game schedule to start on the road might be too much to overcome. Also, Tottenham Spurs play in the English Premier soccer league and they were suppose to have their stadium ready at the start of the season. They have yet to play there as it still isn't completed and they are 23 games into the season. They were fortunate that they were able to play their home games at Wembley Stadium so they are able to play home games.

Definitely looking forward to see what it looks like in the end.

No matter how much they polish that turd it's always going to be a shit stadium.

Hate that we have to wait until June 1st for that first home game. The HCP needs that work FAMS!

I agree. It's always going to have weird dimensions beause it started out as a track stadium and then was converted to baseball and later soccer. But Fenway Park is pretty much the same way. I swear it's like a dump that was turned into a baseball park. But both parks have some of the best crowds in their respective sports. So that's what makes them special.

If a MLB baseball team comes here I'd think about making a Kickstarter fund to pay you to work with the TV crew. It would be worth it hear you complain on here after 7 innings of ball. Watching a game you hate and don't understand.

If the Blazers are in the finals will you be there or is the work at that point on the national crews?
Regular season or playoffs, if ABC is covering the game, they have complete exclusivity of airing it. No teams can broadcast those games.

Regular season or playoffs, if ESPN is covering the game, local team coverage is allowed.

Regular season, if TNT is covering the game, they have exclusivity until the teams have been on TNT 6 times. Once they are, local team coverage is allowed. So for example, say mid March, the Warriors are playing Memphis, the Grizz will most likely not have been on TNT this season 6 times, while the Dubs will have been on 20.......so, Golden State will be allowed to have a local broadcast where as Memphis would not. Regardless of this, in the playoffs if TNT is covering the game, local broadcasts are allowed no matter what.

Finally, local broadcasts in the playoffs are only in the first round. After that it is ONLY national broadcasts.

So when Dame hit his .09 shot against Houston, that was it! My last game of the season.

To answer your question, I DO work on the national shows if I'm not booked on something else. There are also international feeds that I'll work.

Bro, you got NO idea. All my friends I work with who love baseball have been giving me shit about this EXACT thing. I told them I'd rather apply for unemployment!!!!!! The HCP ain't got time to replay those 9>7>1 double plays 82 nights a summer!

I once watched a football game there back in the mid 50s. Also use to watch a ton of Beavers games there. Even watched a Portland Storm game there.
That stadium holds an attraction to me. Hey, saw the one time famous Woody Green play for Arizona State where he single underhandedly was responsible for defeating my OSU Beavers.

Woody Green was an outstanding football player as I watched him several times in high school. Back then, Grant and Jefferson were huge rivals and Green was their main weapon.

Funny story about the Portland Thunder football team. When I was going to U of P they practiced at the university and Ben Davidson who had played for the Oakland Raiders was on the team and parked his big motorhome in the student parking lot and could see him in his motorhome cooking breakfast every morning. The guy was about 6'7" and well into the upper 200's in weight and was intimidating looking but was very cool.

It's a shame they can't buy the Mac Club and finish the bowl out with seats and create some parking there.

His older brother and actually a better athlete was my friend at Tektronix.
When Woody got injured at KC he had surgery and recuperated. Then he got calls from George Allen, John Madden and Bud Grant. Didn't return Grant's call because Minnesota was too cold. Didn't return the other coach's calls because I suspect he was too lazy. His older brother, Paul, got him a job at Tektronix but he couldn't keep that job.
Paul, by the way, played football with Terry Baker and Mel Renfro. Had a full ride at U of O in Track but chose not to go so he could get a job and support his large, fatherless family, including Woody.
I tried to get Paul, our best and most trusted technician, a promotion to engineer and got my boss to agree to take him on but Paul refused because he could make more money working overtime as a technician. This helped him during his off hours when he worked as a pastor at his church where he worked with recently released ex cons to equip them with job training. Paul was quite a guy. Worked with me in buildings 19 (the main campus) and 94 (Walker Rd. campus).

I watched the injury of the "Greatest Running Back NEVER to play the Game" Marcus Dupree.

Portland Breakers!!!!!!!

Now here is where you and I are on the same page, Mr. Toilet Destroyer. With all the talk of semi pro football leagues. It's crazy to think we can't get a team out here. Watching a bad pro style offense would still be better than 90% of all MLS action.

I was at the Breakers game with our soccer team the night Villanova upset Georgetown in the NCAA Championship game. Never forget getting home and watching it! Recorded it on the old VCR!
