Sure seems like he is slipping in the rotation. I know it's a small sample size, but the team has been more effective with one big on the court and a bunch of wings cutting and shooting. With Layman and Hood playing well, and Harkless and Aminu with good games at times, this appears to be the first opportunity to push Collins back in the rotation.

Biebs is playing within himself and doing some good things. Collins just doesn't seem to be providing a consistent defensive presence and isn't hitting his shot well either. The team seems to be playing better with Nurkic/Biebs at the 5 then any combination of Aminu, Harkless, Layman, Hood, at the forwards.

I still think Collins could be a very solid player, but maybe the reality that he needs another year to bulk up and work on his moves and shot.

I think your last point is right on. He needs to get stronger. I still think he'll be a very good player. He just needs to mature physically. I love his work ethic and his attitude so I think he'll be fine.

Collins will be Hood's main victim. Hood will carve him up and eat him. He is done for. Stick a fork in him. Ed Davis' revenge.

Right now IMO he is one of two back up centers on the team. There are no minutes for him at the 4 nor does he play well there....not yet anyways.
He and Meyers need to compete for the back up center spot and nothing else. We have smaller quicker PF's who can shoot better and defend better on the perimeter. Having said that I think both can help the team off the bench. Just not on the floor at the same time.

ah and now comes Mr. Sunshine that has all the answers. :beatinto:

This could be the addition by subtraction contraction we need. Besides, Zach could use more time to get his head straight.

More years to learn is exactly what he needs, but Davis isn't here to cover for him meanwhile.

He certainly SHOULD be, at least at the moment. Last ten games:

Zachs, fairly fundamentally sound, a good athlete, good basketball IQ. I think he has a future as an NBA Role player.

He clearly fouls way too much, some of it is reputation but sometimes he commits just some mind boggling fouls too.

I was once called the Zach hater (heh), but I believe just as it is too early to say he’s the “Future” for the Blazers, I also think its too early to call him a bust. Though I kind of have my doubts he will live up to NO’s comments about him being a foundational player.

Just wait till the second round of the offs, Zman will rise to the occasion!

Pretty hard on the kid don't you think. He still better defender then Leonard on his worst days. Yes Leonard shooting the ball better Zach right now but remember it took Leonard 7 years to actually be rotation. Give Zach time he will get there and if was Leonard or Zach I wouldn't take Skals for granted.

Dudes, @BonesJones is going to lose his shit if y'all keep dogging on Zach. Tread lightly!
Hey, Zach has not played well for a while now, now we have another guy to go with Jake, who has earned his minutes, and Chief and Harkless (less min for him to), Zach loses minutes which for now is how it should be, we'll see if Hood can play well consistently, if he does Zach gets a lot more pine time. As has been said as nauseum he really needs to bulk up and get stronger. I view his season at this time as disappointing, no way is he a bust, he needs more time but we need to tighten up our playoff rotation and the way he is playing he IMO should get much more limited playoff minutes

Guys and gals quitting on Zach already? Come on folks !!!

Just to be clear, the OP position wasn’t to give up on Zack, but maybe observe that he is demoted as just not ready at this time.

It's really pretty clear and simple to me, he's not playing very well and other guys have stepped up and earned more minutes and now a new guy may as well. Ho hate, not "bust" stuff, just simple Bball

Here's a look at Collins & Leonard's running average minutes played per game.

Meyers is simply winning the minutes. More points. More rebounds. More assists. Defense rating slightly below Collins, but Offensive ratings much higher than Collins.

At this point of the season, the coach has to focus on playing the players that give the team the best chance to win. Development comes secondary.

I must say, I'm a bit surprised. But good for Meyers.
