Having just argued that certain players do better in certain environments (e.g. Jermaine O'Neal, Boris Diaw, Detlef Schrempf, or for more recent examples, Joe Ingles, Lou Williams, Jimmy Butler, obvs, although he was already good), I wondered if there were players out there that y'all might think would blossom playing for the Blazers (i.e., Stotts). We've seen a few already, predominantly centers - Rolo, Plumlee, Nurk, but Harkless is also an example. But any potential others come to mind? Obviously they THOUGHT Evan Turner was going to be like that, but turns out his ideal never-to-be-duplicated environment was the Celtics.

I'm going to throw Otto Porter out there, although it would be hard to absorb his contract, and I think Chicago might want to hold on to him anyway.

Jae Crowder as an energy, bangin, 3/4 that can defend as well.

Would he be a significant enough improvement over Rodney Hood to justify the difference in pay?

If we still had Mike Rice as color commentator on the broadcast crew, I'd love to see the Blazers go all-in on Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot just for the pure entertainment factor of listening to Rice butcher his name.

He's working pretty well for his current team, but I would be happy if the Spurs decided to move on from DeMar Derozan. They really need to make a youth movement. I have gone full circle from thinking he was overrated to thinking he's underrated. His bubble play was exceptional, and I'm particularly impressed by his high assist rate. He doesn't shoot threes, which makes him a dinosaur, but I think in a three-guard lineup with Dame and CJ that wouldn't be an issue. He could be what Evan Turner was supposed to be, only on steroids.

My impossible dream scenario would involve bringing in Hield to replace CJ and then dealing CJ for an upgrade at the forward spot. Bit of trivia about Hield - in the first year of his extension his salary is in the CJ neighborhood, but it then decreases each year.

Tough one. I like DeMar, but Hood is a better 3pt shooter, Ariza is a better defender and 3 pt shooter, and Collins fills several other needs. Having said that it is tempting if we had a PF who was an excellent 3 pt shooter (and defender) who could spread the floor. At first, I thought no way, but it would be interesting.

Anyone think Hood will actually opt out....coming off an injury?

That’s what he is in Miami. How would he be better for us?

I think DeRozan's a guy who would be a worse fit with the Blazers. I think Hood actually is a great fit for this team.

Hield's career would peak here, but I don't think he'd be better than CJ. He definitely would thrive in Stotts' system, though.

Not sure Crowder is a guy that fits here, tbh. He's like Paul Millsap light, and I never thought Millsap would move the needle for the Blazers.

I'm thinking guys who are volume shooters, who don't necessarily move well without the ball or pass the ball, guys who are good in iso, pick-and-roll or spotting up off the pick-and-roll, bigs with length and mobility ... you'd think shooting range would be a plus but our traditional 4s and 5s only have been sporadic 3-point threats compared to where most other teams are now.

Good question. I think he would get more minutes here and more shots per game than he has in Miami.
I think he could score more than 12 pts per game.
He should average 15-17 pts pg.
