I agree. It's not just get a new coach. It's get a good replacement as well. I don't know if Kidd would be a good replacement? I would be willing to sit through a year and find out if he has grown as a coach? I would support him like i did Stotts AT FIRST but his leash with me would be rather short is my feeling. I'm in the camp of "You got to give anyone a chance". Becky Hammond, Chaucy Billups, DAntonio, Howard or whomever. I will give whomever is chosen a chance and go from there.
The reality is that I have no confidence we'll land a better coach than Stotts. Kidd would be a significant step back, and I have no confidence Billups would be much better. It's funny that people spent so much time upset about our really decent situation, and were willing to take a huge step back in the hopes of maybe getting back to that place before Dame retires or demands a trade. Olshey should have spent the last 4 years getting the next great coach lined up...
The success of young first time head coaches is always dependent on the staff that they hire. A lot of franchises just don't get this. They'll cheap out on coach and on assistant coaches. For Billups to be successful need an expensive and experienced coaching staff. Look at the assistant coaches Steve Nash has. It's crazy! ' I hope whoever the Blazers hire they give the coach the same blank check to hire a quality staff.
The franchise set up Nash for success with his coaching staff and that can't be cheap. Even if all of them are gone after this season he still had a full season to get his feet wet with quality help.
It’s “funny” as in its unbelievable or ironic or whatever you want to call it that step A as you have it was finally done and within 10 hours IMO one of the shittiest options is presented as Damian Lillards preferred coach. It’s like begging your parents for a car and they say fine here is a pile of crap
Stotts was done and his time here was long. You were always right about that. No question. I just won't budge on some things. One of them was the trashing him as a person that was going on. Not by you but very prevalent in many comments. I also can be a total ass at times. Now lets find a great Coach!
